I'm Steve

I have a lot of things to do.

Sleeping and eating are musts for a productive day, not trying to type without opposable thumbs. Hitting this space bar is very hard and I'm going to need a manicure if I do it again. My nails are putting little scratches and pits in the computer keys.

Chuck had a dentist appointment this morning. I am tired of hearing him complain about going. I don't get what the big deal is. At least he has a dentist.

Hey, check this out.

A survey published this year found that over 50% of final year veterinary students do not feel confident either in discussing orodental problems with clients or in performing a detailed examination of the oral cavity of their small animal patients. Once in practice things don't always improve and it seems many vets dread feline dental procedures.

So if you and I are going to have a relationship I should formally introduce myself.

Hi.

I'm Steve.

I don't know how old I am for sure.

This was me at the cat hobo village Chuck had in his backyard in 2008.

Back then I lived across the street. Those people called me Sniff and I hated it, what a stupid name. It's not a really a name it's a sound you make when you suck air up your nose. And just between us I think that kid over there sucked more than air up his nose.

Steve is much more sophisticated.

So I kept coming over here and made friends with Chuck who would sit out back and pet me.

Around Christmas 2009 I got into a fight with a big bully and had an abscess on my cheek. Chuck went over to my house and told the other people I needed to go to a doctor and he would take care of me. I'm glad he did.

This is me back then.

I have had a lot of friends.

Jill was first since those people across the street didn't want her anymore either. Then after they had a fire Silvia lived here.

Larry, Carl, Casper and Dakota were here when I came.

Now I share this house with Sparky who moved in after living in the backyard for a long time.

I'm a pretty lucky cat.

So glad you fell on your paws Steve. We did as well when we found our human. Six of us live together here ...five of us and our human cat. She does lots for us, and we help her feel better when she has bad days cos she hurts a lot and has to move on wheels. Sometimes we hitch a ride on the back of her chair and fight over it!
Hope you carry on being purrfectly happy.
Simeon, Asher,, Savanna, Levi and 'Lijah....and our human Ali

Houdini is a rescue too.
I adopt all my animals from the SPCA (South African version). I rescued 5 dogs and a siamese that is currently living with us.
Two days before Christmas last year we woke up to the sound of a kitten meowing. We found Houdini on our front porch. It was in the heat of summer and she was clearly starving and thirsty.
She immediately became part of the family. At first we named her Liefie (means loving in my mothertongue Afrikaans), but then she started disappearing. She managed to find the strangest hiding places to sleep. Being new to the household, she would freak us out when she vanished, the longest being 3 days when she slept in a car engine before we found her. Needless to say, we turned over the house every time it happened!
Now she is accustomed to going in and out the house. She still has hiding spots but she is quite big, so she is easy to find despite her adventurious nature.
She is especially fond of my black Labrador named Shade.
Now you also know more about Houdini who is turning one year old during this time of year. Ironically we are entering Spring here in SA, so it symbolizes the breath of fresh air she brought to our lives.
Bless you Chuck and Wanda for opening up your home to them. And thanks for the hours of amusement!

Hi Steve. We are also lucky and blessed to have found our mom Renée. We live in Rhode Island. 2 of us were rescued off the streets.. tiger was extremely sick and ended up meeting over $2,000 and that procedures and surgeries and is healthy and happy now angel that is probably the oldest and she sleeps a lot and has PTSD. Yoda man was rescued from a high-kill shelter. Love bug was about to be euthanized because she had a hernia at 6 weeks.. clearly from abuse. So all 4 of us stay safely inside 100% of the time now. We eat great. We have cat trees.. which is much different from an outside tree but it works and we have a little human sister that we play with and sometimes have to run from because she just adores us and wants to play with us all day long and we have a big doggie German Shepherd Named Scooby and he sometimes thinks he's a cat we laugh about it among ourselves but thank you for sharing your story Steve we have a very similar story to love always Yoda man tiger Angel and love bug and Scooby

I'm so glad life worked out for you honey. Both of my cats are resques. Oliver spent the first 7 months of his life locked in a small garage. Shared it with mom, 3 siblings and a miniature horse. Never got out, no fresh air or play space, aND no human contact. Now he lIves a good life with lots of love.

Hello Steve. I love reading your posts and I never knew of this page until just today. I never clicked on the blue printing. It's very nice that you walked across the street to find a new home where your're looked after much better and truly loved by Momma and Chuck. You also have many friends and kitty friends too. Your're also a celebrity on Facebook. I read and comment on your posts everyday. I try my best anyhow. Sometimes I get busy especially around Christmas. I make all sorts of homemade Christmas cookies for gifts. People love my cookies. Sometimes some of my kitties like a little taste of shortbread. That's the only one their allowed as the other have nuts and candied fruit in them. A few months ago there was a black, fluffy kitty on my back deck. She was pregnant. On November 4, she was at my front door with one baby. The baby was about 10 days old. I picked the baby up and put it in a nice tote with a soft blanket and Missy May(mommy cat) jumped in. Thirty minutes later after she fed her baby she wanted outside again. In a flash she ran out the patio doors across the deck, down the stairs and she was back again in a minute with another baby. She only had two. The mommy and two babies are in my spare room, they are very sweet and happy. I can't keep the momma as she doesn't get along with my other 9 kitties. I have to find a new home for her and one of her babies. I am keeping one of the babies. Well it's 12:30am here and I must go watch some TV and then get some sleep. Good Night Steve. I love you very much. xo
