Twas The Day After Christmas.....

.....and Chuck and Wanda decided to go to Target at 7 A.M. Lord only knows what got into them. Looking for bargains is just not their norm especially when they went out in a storm. When they got to the store it was rainy and cold and the items they wanted were already sold.

What were we thinking?

First let me say this has been a screwy week. Between the Christmas festivities and Wanda's dentist (boss) on a cruise, our days have been scrambled. As you know, Wanda works Monday through Thursday. This week she went into the office Monday for several hours, and is there today.

Next I want to explain a little about our Target adventure yesterday. We like to decorate the outside of the house at the holidays. We have been using led lights for several years. Anyhow, they are eleven bucks but half price the day after Christmas. We went for lights, we only need two sets of blue, and a few odds and ends.

Parchment paper and aluminium foil is also half price because of the x-mas decor on the outside of the box. It's a good time to buy. We got to the store just as the doors were opening. Now, it's NOTHING like 'Black Friday' maybe twenty people were there.

As we got to the holiday isles we passed a woman who had several dozen boxes of foil and parchment in her cart. "Oh, where did you find those?" my wife asked her. "Over there, as she juts her chin in a southerly direction, but they don't have any more." What she didn't say was, they don't have any more because I'm a great big haser. (it's Yiddish for pig and use a 'z' sound for the s.....I thought Yiddish was appropriate for an x-mas item)

There was no limit, it was first come first get. Maybe this woman had a big family and did lots of baking? Maybe she had a store somewhere? Maybe she was going to wrap herself up in tin foil and surprise her husband? I'm not the 'paper and foil police' and it's not for me to say what's 'fair.'

Yesterday, in the store, I said something like, if the situation was reversed, if we had all the foil, we would have given some to her. In hindsight it was a silly thing to say. Wanda, nor I, would ever be in that situation. But, if we were, if for some reason we had all the last of something, I know we would share.

I am going to try and close out the year with a blog entry on Monday. If I can get my ass in gear on Wednesday 1-2-13 and continue writing I will be going into my forth year.

Other than a link to the daily blog entry, I don't post much on Facebook. Lots of you click over from there. To all of you that receive e-mail updates, come from F.B. or find me through other means, I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your friends and family. If you are traveling stay safe and may your airports be open.

Hope to see you all on Monday, the last day of 2012.

Oh, I just realized we're all still here, guess the Mayans were wrong.
