New Years Eve......I Resolve...

Today is the day many of us take an assessment of our past year. We resolve to do things differently in the year to come.

By the way, how do you think Ryan Seacrest will do tonight, without Dick Clark? I'm betting the ball still falls down in New York.

Resolve: to reduce by analysis. To distinguish between or make individual adjacent parts of. To cause resolution of. Now, resolution can mean solution:  Remember the father in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding"...."Give me any word and I'll show you how it came from the Greeks."

The top 10 New Year Resolutions:

1. Lose weight and get fit. This is the #1 New Years resolution. After a season of over eating and drinking too much it makes sense. Just pay attention to all the discounted gym and health club memberships in January. Statistics say that 60% of the people who sign up never make it past their first two weeks. Of those, many don't follow up their first visit.

2. Quit smoking. Only 15% of people that attempt this are smoke free after 6 months.

3. Learn something new. Ya right. If you haven't taken the time to learn a new language or play an instrument yet what makes you think you'll do it this year?

4. Eat healthier and diet. Isn't this like #1?

5. Get out of debt and save money. This one is made on New Years Eve while you're paying the bar tab.

6. Spend more time with the family. No one should need a resolution to do this.

7. Travel to new places. No one should need a resolution to do this. Didn't I say that for #6? Take the family on vacation and get two for one.

8. Be less stressed. This is a difficult one. Either you are, or you are not, a hyper personality. Maybe try mediation?

9. Volunteer. If you don't have time for your family you're not going to volunteer. Send a few bucks to a worthy cause, you will feel better.

10. Drink less. Of course you say this, you have a massive hangover.

Many are made and few are kept.

My number one resolution: I resolve not to need any resolutions.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.
