A few friends left comments that they couldn't post on Peg's travel blog. I was going to suggest it may be because she has that feature off (which a blog owner can do) but, someone did leave a comment, so that can't be it. I will try later and let you all know if I figure it out. Once again, I thank all of you for reading this blog and for your comments.
Oh.....Jill the Cat who loves to sit next to the keyboard and lick my fingers as I try to type is here now. She is sitting quietly and I got to wondering why. It's probably because she is using all her energy to create cat farts, and now she leaves. Thanks a lot you worthless cat. Excuse me while I go light a candle.
Speaking of lighting a candle. Yesterday was my father Irving's Yahrzeit . If you want to get more information I have included a link, if not, suffice it to say, a candle is lit on the anniversary of a death. When I was a kid we had an electric memorial, just plug it in and turn it on, no muss, no fuss. It was shaped like the Tower of Piazza without the lean and topped off with a small Star of David. Seems a shame it was only used a couple times a year. I suppose it could be lit at Hanukkah, but you would need eight more.
Once the Yahrzeit is lit it will burn for twenty four hours. We had one here from my mother's in July. I'm not comfortable leaving a candle burning overnight and unattended. With the cats in the house you never known when you may smell singed fur. I could have put it in one of the bathroom sinks but that didn't seem like the proper place for a memorial. So, before turning in for the night I smothered the flame and put the candle back.
This brings us to last night. The folks were divorced and he remarried. I used the same candle for both of them, I hope that was OK.
The other day I saw a promotion for "West Side Story." The movie, released in 1961, will be having a 50TH anniversary celebration. I remember seeing it at the Royal Theater on 7 Mile Rd and Meyers (I think it was) in Detroit. I went in having no idea about it's content or presentation. It was years until I learned it was a musical, a stage play, and a sort of Romeo and Juliet story.
A bunch of thirteen year old kids doing jumps, spins, and pirouettes down the street on the way home. I'm sure we looked even stranger than I felt. I just didn't get the Sharks and the Jets although Officer Krupkie I could relate to. And in the Oh Please section, do you really think a guy could go into the Puerto Rician section of New York, scream "Maria" and have only one window open?
One of these days I'm going to learn how to do more things on the computer. I will put it on the list right after the Good Belly and the cherry pie.
I don't feel like I waste time since I consider sleeping, reading, watching television, and cat petting worthwhile endeavors and accomplishments. I am guilty of pretending I'll do things "tomorrow" when I know I probably won't. If I truly think something is important or will weigh on my mind I get it done quickly. And, I give myself permission to forget about the "small stuff."
I tried to post a video that was (and still is) making the rounds on Face Book. It's a very cute cat sliding down stairs on it's side. The title is "Slinky Cat." Last night Wanda was watching it:
She said, "Everybody loved Slinky Cat."
I heard, Everybody loved Twinkies hat.
I just saw a headline on the home page, Hefner to pay Lindsey Lohan a million bucks for posing naked in Playboy. Just one more example of how screwed up things are. The TV series about the Playboy Clubs lasted two or three episodes, maybe the magazine should be next to go?
I wouldn't want to be called out for writing inconsistent and unreliable information. The figure now is "just under a million dollars." Playboy offered her seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars which she felt wasn't enough. After back and forth negotiations the under a million (barely.....get it, barely) was accepted.
I hope no one buys the damn magazine. Hey Hefner, feed the hungry.
