Older daughter Jennifer gave the blog a great start when she set it up last year. It's mine to redesign or reconfigure. I've been thinking about doing it for at least six months. I have no idea or excuse for my lack of motivation. I occasionally wonder what I do with my time? But, whatever I am doing it must be OK. I wouldn't change a thing. Hey, I just created and solved a problem all in one paragraph.
This morning I was laying in bed not sure if I was sleeping or awake. I refer to this netherworld as, Boofland. So, here I was, in Boofland listening to Wanda getting ready for work. Finally I mustered enough energy to open my eyes, it was 7AM. I yelled, "good morning" to Wanda. She yelled, "I'm late," back. After a very short conversation she hit the road for the office which got me thinking.
Cats, are creatures of habit and we have four. Every morning some cat will want something, somewhere in the house. Clean litter boxes, fresh food and water, kitty treats, or a pat and scratch on the head. We also care for Sparky Lee the backyard not our cat who lives with us. And we have Silvia the front yard cat who lives across the street but eats and drinks here and loves to lay on the fountain. Wanda tends to all the cats, every morning, while I'm still sleeping.
It's interesting how we have developed our "tasks" over the years. We were talking last night, about getting along alone. I think she would be just fine without me. I, of course, would become a babbling, blithering idiotic basket case. Although it's not pleasant, it is something to think about. If nothing else, it reminds me of how lucky I am and to appreciate everything I have, every day.
Fastrak, 'Keeping the Bay Area Moving'.....is it's heading. I had to call the customer service department this morning. It seems like every business or organization begins it's phone tree with, "Please listen to the complete recording as menu options have changed." So, I listen and then forget what number I wanted and start again. I called about a refund. They claim it will take 30 days, that was three weeks ago.
Younger Daughter Rebecca posted on Face Book yesterday. She got a pair of pants home and discovered the security clamp thing was still on. It's a damn shame that stores must protect themselves with such waste. Have you ever purchased a small item, like a flash drive or memory card? The item is two square inches in a blister pack or clam shell you could put a car in.
No, really.......this is in the news today.
Ernie, will you take Bert to be your lawfully wedded Muppet-Husband? That’s the question that an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) activist hopes to hear as she pushes forth a petition for the Sesame Street roommates to wed.
With New York state legalizing same-sex marriage just this past June, and considering Archie Comics recently introduced its first gay character, some people feel it just makes sense that the progressive children’s TV show, which has covered sensitive topics such as race, HIV, self-acceptance, and death, should follow suit.
She feels that Bert and Ernie’s union could significantly help struggling LGBT kids “know that they ARE BEAUTIFUL and their lives are worth living,” opponents fear that marriage between the two iconic Muppet's could possibly confuse children (e.g. When two men live together, does that mean they’re automatically gay?), while others argue that the show shouldn’t tread on politicized issues.
“We are not asking that ‘Sesame Street’ do anything crude or disrespectful,”’ “Only that they allow Bert & Ernie to marry or even add a transgender character to the show. It can be done in a tasteful way. Let us teach tolerance of those that are different.”
In response, a spokesperson for “Sesame Street” dismissed the notion that the domestic duo are nothing more than “best friends with no sexual orientation.”
The activist has an on line petition that claims to have over 1,100 signatures.
When Rebecca was little and again with Nick I loved watching Sesame Street with them. It was fun, entertaining and of course, educational. I'll admit to joking about Bert and Ernie on more than one occasion. "They're gay you know," and maybe they are? Frankly, I've never been concerned what choice's anyone makes in life. That is, if those choice's do not hurt anyone or anything.
The article quotes the LGBT activist, "Bert and Ernie’s union could significantly help struggling LGBT kids “know that they ARE BEAUTIFUL and their lives are worth living."
I honestly don't know, do kids think about these things when they are young and watching Sesame Street? If a five year old boy clomps around in his mothers slippers does that mean he's thinking about life as a transgender person?
What about Oscar the Grouch? Shouldn't something be done about his attitude? He isn't very nice you know.
How about the Cookie Monster? He scarfs all those bad cookies. He should be eating more fruit and veggies.
Big Bird? He is very yellow. He could upset people with liver conditions.
Hey, for goodness sake, leave 'em alone, they're puppets.
