What's important today? What made the headlines today? What's the first thing I saw when I opened the computer today?
Paris Hilton loses cellphone!.....oh, excuse me, cellphones. She must really be important. She has two phones and managed to misplace them both on an airline flight to Manila. This is big news because in 2005 her phone was "hacked." Back then all of her "famous" friends had their numbers splashed all over the Internet.......it's a slow news day.
So many of us are tired of all the negative news we get hammered with every day. I think hearing about, and laughing about Paris is much more fun. It just goes to show, while money won't buy happiness, it does get your name in the news.
Miley Cyrus is another "celebrity" but she can sing, can't she? A question the other day, should she be a role model? If you read the blog you already know my answer to that. A parent, or teacher, or positive influence should be a role model. I don't know much about Miley. She voiced a character in an animated movie that was really cute called "Bolt." The other day I saw a minute of her acting in a film called, "The Last Song." She should stick to voice work. She can sing, right?
A former cannibal in Indonesia who is currently living at a mental institution said he is on the lookout for potential wives. The man said he has been "yearning for a wife,"...........he would prefer a vegetarian.
New York City's first casino grand opening has been delayed due to pigeon droppings. More than $15 million has been spent cleaning pigeon poop off the walls, floors, and ceilings. The cleanup of the old Aqueduct Race Track which will house the new casino is more involved than originally thought. The company said the grand opening of the casino has been pushed back to fall......Once the casino opens the company expects a new group of pigeons will flock to the building.
Police in Illinois said a man who fled a taxi cab without paying left his ID and a bong for smoking marijuana in the cab. He left a backpack containing the items including a time card bearing his name and keys.
The driver turned the backpack over to police, who used the ID to track down his father. Investigators said the father sent his son to the police station, where he was ticketed for possession of marijuana. Police said he paid the $15 cab fare plus a $5 tip and the driver declined to press charges........the kid said, "sorry man, I forgot I was supposed to pay."
The first work I did when moving to California was driving a taxi. I was on duty 66 hours a week. I drove in Walnut Creek which was then a very sleepy little town. This was before BART service or any type of public transportation. We were pretty busy and I made a decent living at the time. The first night I worked I picked up a couple of young guys who ran out of the cab at their "destination." .......I picked them up at a bar and they had been drinking.
I never got paid..............booze is legal but pot is not?
