It''s Friday........no writing today

I usually take Friday off. Wanda is down the street getting a massage. I am in the downtown coffee shop, waiting. Her appointment was at 11 this morning. Just about 11:10 my phone began to ring. "Noise" "Noise" "Noise" it was emanating a sound I wasn't very familiar with. I say this because I had no idea what was making the noise.

I'm in a public place. There are about a dozen people sitting here and everyone has a potential noise making device. "Noise" "Noise" "Noise." What the Hell is that coming from? No one close looked concerned, no one close picked up a phone, smart or otherwise. I went so far as to lift the computer and look underneath it. Something, somewhere was making a melodic noise.

"Honk" "Honk" "Honk." I suddenly realized the phone in my pants pocket was yelling at me. "You have one missed message, call voice mail?" The prompt on my display asked. So I did. Wanda left a message, "I don't know where you are and the massage "store" is closed." I called her back.

Punctuality is important to Wanda, to both of us. She sets an appointment she expects the patient to be on time. She expects the doc and assistant on time as well. She gets to her appointments early. So, at ten minutes after eleven she was calling to tell me she was more than a little upset.

"They were going on vacation last week, maybe they got the date wrong?" I said.

A young lady is standing at the counter ordering her coffee. She has what we in the nursing business refer to as a "productive" cough.........go home lady, people do not want what you have. People don't want to hear what you are doing.

Maybe they mixed up the date? I suggested Wanda wait for another few minutes. "Don't aggravate yourself it'll defeat the purpose of the massage," I said. Less than five minutes later my phone yelled at me again. This time I knew what it was and answered. "She is on the way and should be here in five minutes." Wanda said.

So, here I sit, in the downtown Pittsburg coffee shop, The Steeltown Coffee & Tea. I'm using their free Wi Fi and writing this, on a Friday, a day I do not write. Wanda just walked in, it was a free massage for her wait. Of course, Wanda said it was not necessary but the massage person insisted, maybe she (Wanda, not the massage person) will take me out to lunch?

And, for future reference to me, when a password sounds like ICE tea it could be ICED tea.

Now back at home. I want to fill you all in on the last ninety minutes or so.

Wanda got her massage, met me in the coffee shop, and off to Home Depot we went.

We were paying a balance due and picking up a door and hardware. We got to the store and on to Doors and Windows I went. I spoke with Chris yesterday and knew he would be in after 12:30. As I approached the "help" desk I saw three workers, Chris was not one of them.

"Can I help you?" one of the staff asked. I asked for Chris and handed him the paperwork. He looked at the papers, told me Chris wasn't in, and suggested I go to the Pro Desk. "I can't get into this computer." he said, "They can help you there." So, on to the Pro Desk I went.

I got to the Pro Desk and handed the papers to Sophie. She picked up the phone pushed a few buttons and said, "Chris, I have one of your customers up here, yes, OK, thanks," Sophie told me to go to Doors and Windows and "Chris will help you." I didn't bother to ask. Someone didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I went back to start and did not pass go.

Wanda was still looking at plants when I went back to Doors and Windows. Chris was there helping a guy who wanted a $2,000.00 dollar garage door for $27.95. I waited and listened, eventually Chris was free. Wanda, finished in the garden department, arrived. We took care of the bill, got the hardware and left to bring the car up front. Everything fit in the RAV saving us the $80 dollar delivery charge.

We just got home the door is in the living room. The cats are sniffing around it like they have never seen a security front screen door. Oh, they haven't. Now we wait to hear from the install guy who was the measure man last week. The entire package was $350.00.

The other day I wrote about all the extra charges. The rubber thing on the bottom of the door called a "door sweep black" is $19.85. The installation charge for "door sweep black" is $25. I would try that one myself but we've already paid it. And, honestly, when it comes to this project, I don't think I know the difference between my ass, and a hole in the ground.
