I am so depressed, how could this happen? and on a Monday to boot.
I have finally come to the realization that Wanda and I will not be going to the Royal Wedding. The invites are out, we didn't even get the "sorry you are not going to be here" consolation invitation. I have racked my brain trying to think of why we were excluded.
President and Mrs. Obama are not invited. The reason, too expensive providing security and a state visit in May. Tony and Cherie Blair are not invited. Some think the reason was Mr. Blairs criticisms of the Queen around Princess Di's funeral. Those "in the know" think it was about Cherie. News to me and I'm just appalled. Mrs. Blair refused to curtsy for members of the royal family when she was Mrs. Prime Minister. Oh, the horror.
Beckhem the football player and wife are going. Elton John is going. Mr and Mrs. Shulak will not be going. We won't even watch it on television. If they don't want us, the heck with them.
She refused to curtsy? Damn, all those finishing school lessons wasted.
Just who pays for this wedding? I bet it's not the family of the bride.
Wanda and I were in London four years ago. We both loved it. A great city to walk around in and enjoy. My only complaint was the difficulty trying to cross the streets, that and the six buck coffee.
I haven't been doing real well getting back on my exercise schedule. I forced myself over the week end and again this morning. We have a Nintendo Wii, a couple of exercise games and the Fit Board. If you are not familiar with this and want some information, take a look here. I did forty minutes this morning. I am determined to be back on track by weeks end, at least an hour a day.
Speaking of Nintendo, a new game console is scheduled for release next year. The company profits are way down this year, just 12 billion yen. If you ask me (and nobody has) that is a lot of yen.
If you read the blog Saturday I talked about me being a "half empty" person, always thinking the worst. Wanda is a "half full" person, always thinking positively. I noticed more termite poop and figured we had another, more serious problem. Wanda said, "it's probably normal, relax."
The termite poop is normal I am told, this morning I spoke with Ron, the termite guy. A good day is any day I can learn something, today I did. The mixture that was injected in our walls does not instantly kill the little buggers. The termites really love this stuff, like me and cookies. The termites think they have just been invited to say, the royal wedding, and it's dinner time. They eat, take a dogie bag or two home and poison the entire family.
If we still have "poop" in six to eight weeks the company will come back and bring dinner and dessert.
When we bought the new TV three months ago it was packaged with a one hundred dollar gift card. The company, Cinema Now, is a pay per view on demand entertainment site. We haven't used the card yet but check new releases often. Over the week end we finally found a couple things of interest. "The King's Speech" and the latest "Narnia."
Last night after the dinner dishes were done we began the under five minute ordering process. We sat down with all of our "watching movies goodies" expecting to see "Narnia," we didn't. We did see a very large: "Your Internet Connection Is Too Slow To Stream Movies At This Time."
I just wrote about turning over a new leaf. How I was not going to see the half empty glass. How I would not think the worse but take a more positive view on things. I did not do that last night. Within minutes I was convinced we needed a new, faster wireless modem. And worse, the three hundred dollar upgrade to our home alarm system was a waste of money. I told myself that the signals the alarm used were interfering with the wi-fi in the house. You know, the old, "Two steps forward and one step back" dance. Wanda said, "it's probably slow because it's busy, the holiday and all." She suggested I try it again later.
I did, and it worked just fine.
Some pretty good words of wisdom, take a breath and try it again later. It will probably be just fine.
