What do other people do when appliances fail? It seems like they should come and fix it right away. Good luck.
Gramma Peg asked the above question.
Peg, they WILL come out BUT, if the thing is leaking around the seal you would want to stop it asap and get a new one on. The leaking contents can be irritating to the skin so waiting for them isn't really an option. He and I both know this is just a learning process and there are many "tricks of the trade" to make these things "leak proof." Also, we are using what we were sent home with, sort of a "one size fits all kit." She should be taking measurements tomorrow and ordering much better equipment. I guess it's sort of like the difference of a tailored suit or an off the rack from Sears. There are all sorts of "extras" I think you can even get mink lined ones if you are willing to pay the price.
What pissed me off this afternoon was the timing and what I perceived as a total lack of compassion. I called the office and was transferred to her cell phone. When I told her the problem I could feel the vapid look and questioning stare through the phone. I said, "Shulak, the brother, you were here this morning." She said, "Yes, I recall." I thought, YOU RECALL? What the Hell have you been so busy doing this past two hours that may have caused you to forget? She told me I could make do with what I had or call the office and they would "send someone out." What, I would get the same one from last night? Or another one that had some vague idea of what she was doing. I figured he's my brother, we'll figure it out. I'm not going to jinx this one but it's after 10, he's asleep and so far, so good.
Heck, I'm sorry everyone if it sounded like I was whining.....maybe that's not a bad idea, I bet there is a decent bottle around here.
Something told me I should go out and check his mailbox today and I'm so glad I did. Cousin Marshall and Lynn and Cousin Carol went way above and beyond for me. They sent a very nice Starbucks Gift Card which I greatly appreciate. It was very generous of you all and I promise I will nitsn em arayn gute gezunt. Which means I will use it in the best of health. I have no idea why I thought of Yiddish.
Anyone remember the Mel Brooks movie, "Blazing Saddles?" There is a scene with Cleavon Little (Sheriff Bart) telling Gene Wilder (The Waco Kid) about how he crossed the great plains in a wagon train with his parents when he was a kid. The settlers were getting attacked by Indians and since "the white folks wouldn't let us into their circle of wagons, we made our own." Now you see an African American family in a covered wagon going around in circles. The marauding Indians appear lead by the chief, Mel Brooks who looks at the family and says,
"Shvartses! No, no, zayt nisht meshuge! Loz im geyn! Cop a walk, it's alright. Abi gezint! Hosti gezen in dayne lebn?"
Fred copped a walk today, as a matter of fact, two of them. He was up at the computer twice for a total of about three and a half hours. He had both lunch and dinner while sitting here, so, it was a very good, and a very productive day. Tomorrow my friend the ostomy nurse will be here and for the first time the Physical Therapist. His office manager Tammy will also be over in the afternoon so he has a full day ahead of him. I should be able to get away for a few hours, to the Starbucks I'm sure.
I finally got to make the chopped sirloin burgers, they were lousy. It's really difficult trying to cook in a strange kitchen. It's even more difficult when said kitchen has seasoning consisting of, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Two pans and a couple of pots, no measuring spoons, and very little else. The burgers were dry and relatively tasteless but the fried potatoes were good, although I forgot to buy Catsup. Also we had various portions of salad with avocado, baked beans, and applesauce. Fred has been asking for a drink made with Vernor's Ginger Ale, Vanilla Ice Cream, and the Hershey's Chocolate Sauce I found on "isle six" at the Krogers. Since he did so much today I let him have this as his treat. Tomorrow maybe I'll see if he can sit up and beg? If so, he'll get a liver snap.
I'm off to watch what's left of the football game. Thanks for listening, all the best, good night.
