Guests.....or Dinner?

Chuck and Wanda are going away after the Lions of Detroit and the Bears of Chicago play some game.

Speaking for SockMonkey and BFF we're not real happy about them watching a large group of animals beat each other up but they seem to enjoy that, I think. I hear Chuck yelling bad words at the tellyvision sometimes.

I mean isn't today supposed to be about everyone giving thanks and getting along? OK, OK...we're not going to really eat the rat but the duck is very plump and looks oh so juicy.

I like being a cat but just once in a while I would like to go out with them. Even BFF and the Monkey get to go out once in a while. I could go with them to Thanksgiving dinner and visit Sam and Loki the cats and the dog Recon.

Oh well, maybe next year.

If I was a dog I would go riding in the car, stick my head out of the window and slobber. But I'm a cat. I hate wearing a harness so I can't go out.

If I was a dog I'd poop in the backyard not in a box in the garage.

I'm a cat, I can do things like a dog.

I can sit and lie down and even fetch things if I want and still they call me aloof, independent and unsociable. Hey, I'm posing here; does this look unsociable to you?

I can tell when it's a work day for my mom because she isn't here and I get stuck with him all day. I like her better. She likes to scratch me under the chin. She also doesn't mind when I sit on her lap or jump on the bed and lick her when my food dish is empty at 4 in the morning.

I like it when she is home.

Now people say dogs are loyal but just so you know, cats are too.

There are lots of candles in the living room. They light up at the same time every night. I think they're magic candles but I head my mom say they needed new batteries a while ago. She put something in them and now they get real bright when it gets dark outside.

When the lights come on I go sit in the living room and stare out the front window.

I'm not sure if it is the recent early evening darkness or the rain slicked roads but I think I'm sitting here longer than I used to. Humans are strange, they need a clock to tell them things and they keep changing it.

I can see all the way to the next intersection one whole block away. I watch the cars take turns at the 4-way stop sign. My ears twitch and my eyes open a little wider each time I see a silver or grey like SUV turn left toward me and the house.

Several pass right by and I know I just need to wait a little longer.

I'm not dog.

I'm Steve the Cat and I'm thankful for my family, my home, my food, my health and my friends.

You human people have a Happy Thanksgiving. I sure hope you all can eventually figure out how to live together and get along.

Us animals have.

You're supposed to be the smart ones.
