Thursday Morning.....Nevada City

As Elmer Fudd would say, "Be vewy, vewy quiet."

I couldn't sleep at all last night (I feel like I should bust out in a chorus of Tossin' and Turnin'). It was so quiet here the silence was deafening.

Debbie, Wanda and I went out for dinner then came back to the motel. We sat outside and at dusk the mosquito's decided we were no longer appetizers but the main course. The Skin So Soft insect repellent we brought was more soft skin than repellent and we three took refuge in our respective rooms.

This morning in order of importance Wanda and I went out for coffee and Unscented Backwoods Cutter Insect Repellent, the Up To 10 Hour type. I didn't come up here to be some bugs meal ticket. The area had late rain and it's bad this year.

So getting back to my sleepless night, I finished a book so I was good until midnight. Over the next four hours I tried listening to the soothing sounds of a tropical rain forest (which had me up thinking of snakes and spiders) and eventually Dimension X radio programs. When I had my fill of 50's radio Sci-fi it was close to 4:30 and Wanda was getting up. At that point I fell asleep for a few hours.

Today we're expecting Claire and Al from Alabama, Andi and Wil from San Jose and Ted and Catherine from Ft. Bragg.

An early Nevada City morning and a favorite area at the Outside Inn

I can't write a regular type blog post because this lap top is a piece of crap. It's old, slow and has a short battery life. I need to plug-in and working in the room isn't much fun. So I'm going to say good-bye for today. By the way, the stars in the night sky were amazing.
