Today is International Picnic and National Sushi Day. Take a lover, a friend, or both on a picnic. Pack sushi and don't forget the ice.
SPOILER ALERT: (I felt obligated to do that)....oh god, now I'm concerned someone may actually read this and get upset I'm giving away GOT plot lines.
I watched the season ending Game of Thrones the other night. I saw sword fights, fist fights and knife (smaller than swords) fights. I watched a character die shot by arrows from a cross bow in the hands of a dwarf. I saw a woman strangled with her favorite necklace. None of that bothered me.
What bothered me was watching Daenerys imprison her two dragons for incinerating a young native girl.
I thought of Hagrid saying, "But he's only a baby after all" when describing his dragon Norbert.
I shed a tear for those little baby dragons. Just following their hunting instincts and now they're chained and locked in the catacombs. Robbed of their freedom and doomed to a life of suffering while waiting for their release, only to be used as weapons in a future war.
I don't mind seeing fictional people get hurt or die just fictional animals.
Here are some of the more interesting things that have happened this week.
Oh, you know.....those kids on their Facebooks.
An Alabama teen who was unknowingly speaking to her aunt on Facebook about killing her family was charged with the solicitation of murder and is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Marissa Woodmores Aunt Ella created a fake Facebook account under the name Tre 'Topdog' Ellis so that she could chat with her niece online and see how she interacted with men.
Woodmore has lived with her aunt since April 2014 and she would reportedly invite people she met on Facebook over to the house. "Not the most savory characters I've ever met, said Aunt Ella."
According to court documents, Woodmore began talking to "Ellis" and asked him to come over and get drunk with her the first day they began chatting. She also allegedly said she'd have sex with him in exchange for paying her $50 cell phone bill.
The teen then began detailing a plan that involved "Ellis" kidnapping her and taking her out of Alabama. Woodmore told him if any of her family members tried to stop him, he should shoot them. She named her aunt, her aunt's fiancé and son, her cousin and the family dog as targets.
When her aunt read what Woodmore had written, she called the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office. "She said to shoot the family dog. What kind of a person does that? That was it; I'd had it with her."
When she was interviewed by deputies, Woodmore apologized and said she didn't mean any of it. "I was just joking, I knew it was her. And just to set the record straight, my phone bill may be $50 but I wouldn't take a dime under $100 for sex."
An Arizona man was arrested Friday night after he told police he was "trying to shoot the moon" with his handgun.
Cameron Read's girlfriend called Prescott Valley police after he allegedly fired several shots and "spoke of seeing Halley's Comet."
.....meanwhile in Colorado
A Colorado man who was accused of smoking methamphetamine is now facing attempted murder charges after he was allegedly able to squeeze off two shots at Denver police officers from a gun he had hidden in his butt.
Isaac Vigil was being brought to the police station after officers repeatedly searched him when he somehow managed to open fire. Vigil stopped firing when his gun jammed and officers shot him in the stomach.
The 32-year-old was taken into custody after he was seen smoking meth in a McDonald's parking lot. Vigil was facing numerous charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia, assault, felony menacing, and possession of a weapon.
It was difficult to search Virgil because he was "violent and aggressive" and "highly agitated," but officers reported that the suspect was patted down three times.
Prior to the shooting Vigil threatened to shoot the officers several times and claimed that he had been smoking meth for three days. In addition to the handgun, Vigil had two baggies of meth stashed in his "rectal area."
He also had a smart phone and a recent edition of The New York Times.
In Arizona Cameron Read said, "Wish I'd thought of that. It's a fantastic way to shoot at the moon."
I just figured out what TKL8R meant in text or tweet talk. If I want to learn this new form of communication I have a lot of homework.
The FBI has released a comprehensive 83-page manual for deciphering social media slang and acronyms.
"With the advent of Twitter and other social media venues, the use of shorthand and acronyms has exploded. The DI's...Directorate of Intelligence's Intelligence Research Support Unit or IRSU has put together an extensive -- but far from exhaustive -- list of shorthand and acronyms used on Twitter and other social media venues such as instant messages, Facebook, and MySpace," begins the manual.
It includes common shorthand like SRSLY, OMG and LMAO as well as more obscure terms like SOIDH (screenshot or it didn't happen).
They defined the word troll as "a deliberately provocative message board user."
The tweet/text speak info comprised the first four pages of the manual, the FBI translations and explanations the last seventy-nine.
All through the investigation Natasha claimed she never watched SNL and did not know John Belushi.
A Utah woman is facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly tried to kill her neighbor with a 27-inch samurai sword.
According to 56-year-old Barney Salazar, Natasha Davis became upset when he asked her to quiet down.
"She came running down and screamed, '您想要转巴尼,你想要一个的我吗?'"
Which roughly translated is , You wanna go Barney, you want a piece of me?
"I noticed she had a big samurai sword. I was very mad, when I seen her come out like that. With my granddaughter right there, that's what really upset me."
The 24-year-old allegedly swung the sword at Salazar multiple times before her boyfriend was able to restrain her.
"I think her boyfriend stepped in just in time and was able to hold her back, so there was no further assault," said Police Sgt. Robin Hart.
Salazar blocked one of the sword swipes with his arm and sustained a three-inch slash that required 10 stitches.
Davis is being held without bail.
After her arraignment Davis will return to her job at the "We Use Very Little Salt" Delicatessen in Salt Lake City.
