It's always safe to talk about the weather. No one should object, take offense, or argue about that.
Over the next three days our forecast calls for 93, 94 and 90 degree temperatures. This little area of the world should be a pleasant 71 to 79 degrees. It's the end of April, the first of May for god's sake. We should not be dealing with Africa hot until mid-July.
But I don't need to think about a storm cellar or hire a structural engineer to asses this house for tornado management. I don't need to worry about hurricanes or floods. I just live with the fear of earthquakes, and sinkholes, and land slides, and fires, and getting hit with asteroids, the sun burning out, black holes, pandemics and old age.
Now here is something I will probably get comments about.
I'm sure you've heard about this as it's all over the news.
"Oklahoma Inmate Dies After Execution is Botched."
"Oklahoma prison officials halted the execution of an inmate after botching the delivery of a new three-drug cocktail-but the man died anyway."
The man's execution did not go well. According to prison officials it took ten minutes for him to die.
Defense lawyers have called for an independent investigation and the dead man's family demanded answers.
One witness said. "When they opened up the curtain, he was still alive. He was alive after they injected him! It did not do the job. They screwed it up. If they cannot effectively execute a person, then don't do it. What is wrong with this system?"
My feeling about the death penalty has changed over the years. When given the chance some forty years ago I voted against it. The bad spouse voted for it so we cancelled each other out (it was not the first time). These days I'm more aware of my fellow man's mistreatment and inhumanity toward others and have adopted the "Fuck 'Em" attitude.
Who speaks for the victim?
This man was on death row, scheduled for execution for shooting a 19-year-old girl (I would say woman but she never had the chance to become one) with a sawed-off shotgun and watching as two accomplices buried her alive in 1999.
I just read case notes: Lethal injection botched or otherwise was far too humane for this now 38-year-old mans death. His case was decided in 2002; he should have been hung, shot, drawn and quartered.
Oh, and indulge me for another minute.
A local golf pro who was arrested in December 2013 on 65 counts of molestation has had another charge added to his crimes---solicitation of murder. He tried to hire a hit man to kill three of the students he is accused of molesting. The hit man turned out to be an undercover police inspector.
What the hell is wrong with people?
It's a rhetorical question.
I'm in a strange mood today. It must have something to do with my dental visit yesterday. Eventually I'll have some type of synthetic teeth but for now I look like a character from the movie "Deliverance" and feel like Jo-Jo the Dog-Faced Boy. I need a haircut and today is $10 (62 & Over) Senior Day. I'm not going anywhere without a face mask. I have a gap smack dab in the center of my teeth large enough to drive a Mac truck through and my tongue feels like I ate the Weasley twins ten-tongue toffee.
Guess I should have flossed more often.
I lost my virginity and don't know where to find it.
Another young woman has put her virginity on the auction block. At first I was going to pass on this as I didn't want to dignify, validate or support her decision by extra exposure (not that she needs more exposure). But after reading her introduction I decided it's her life, her body and her choice. If she wants to take advantage of the opportunity, who am I to judge.
A medical school student who put her virginity up for auction on her website in March has revealed her face.
The 28-year-old previously just had body shots with her face obscured by the fake name she is using, "Elizabeth Raine."
The bidding for Raine’s virginity is up to $550,000 with the auction set to end on May 7.
The person who places the winning bid will get the following:
“The winning bidder will receive a 12-hour date with me, during the course of which he will be offered my virginity. I am sorry if I disappoint you, but all other pertinent (or salacious) details will remain private.”
Raine, who grew up in Saudi Arabia, is auctioning her virginity for money, but also cites adventure, eroticism and scandal as reasons. “I find chastity itself erotically charged by mystery, desire and anticipation, and I anxiously await the discovery of new sensual experiences,” she wrote on her website.
“Perhaps this will lead me into the arms of a gentleman with a similar appreciation for these unique circumstances, and make my first time worthy of both the wait and lasting memory.”
The “date” with Raine will take place in Australia for legal reasons.
The Internet has changed many aspects of how we conduct our lives. Prior to its invention if a woman wanted to sell her virginity she had to stand on a street corner.
Mark my words: It won't be long before we read about a nice, well educated young man offering his virginity to the highest bidder. Ladies...start your engines.
When I was a young man there were several alternatives for a first sexual encounter.
You could pay for it.
You could beg and whine for it.
Or most likely, you could have it alone.
