Finally a Shower at Home or Enjoy it While You Can...

Everything looked so nice I didn't want to get the shower wet, but I forced myself. We won't be able to use it over the next 24 to 48 hours.

I'm not posting a picture today. Go back and take a look at yesterday and picture the door off its hinges and the room primed white.

Yesterday Doug and Dillon painted the door, trim and baseboards and primed the room. Today they'll paint and seal the floor tile. The target day for completion is Thursday.

While work continues on the bathroom and the Olympics occupy my television, the world continues to turn.

I love the games and am sick of the commercials. I'm really tired of seeing the poor people without any friends. How sad it is to think a little girl has to teeter-totter alone or a man has no ping-pong partner. If he was smart he would play against a wall not hit the ball down his driveway.

And I'll be sure to heed the "Do Not Attempt" warning. I'm a little too old to jump out of a pond backwards while wearing skis.

This is a story I've written about in the past, it's rather appropriate today.

There are two types of dill pickles. Old dills are aged longer and are usually hotter. New dills are aged less and have more of a cucumber taste. I don't like cucumbers and they don't like me.

I was in a deli in Berkley and asked the waiter if they had any old dill pickles. He said. "No sir. We just got them in the day before yesterday."

These are from Avie.

At the bank: I handed the teller a withdrawal slip for $400 and asked for large bills. She said. "I'm sorry; all the bills are the same size."

At Taco Bell: I ordered a taco and asked for 'minimal lettuce.' The counter person said they only had iceberg.

Today is "National Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day." I'm not sure what that means. Can you celebrate the day if you don't spill any milk or do you have to spill it and not cry? It could mean don't sweat the small stuff. Here are two people that should take that advice.

It's a freakin' hamburger.

A Michigan woman was so upset about a second consecutive incorrect burger order at a Grand Rapids McDonald's that she allegedly fired a shot into the restaurant's drive-thru window.

According to police, two women discovered that their burger order was incorrect and returned to the restaurant to complain. They were told they would receive a free meal during their next visit and left.

The women came back a few hours later, placed the same order, and once again were served “an incorrectly prepared burger” at the restaurant's drive-thru.

The passenger in the car, identified as 29-year-old Shaneka Monique Torres, then became verbally abusive and allegedly fired a pistol shot into the window of the McDonald's.

The suspects were tracked down because they had left their phone number at the restaurant during their initial visit.

Torres will reportedly face felony charges including carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and firing a concealed weapon. The driver of the vehicle was released.

No one was injured during the incident.

A Missouri woman sued her bank and a major credit bureau for declaring her dead and failing to correct the mistake.

Kimberly Haman, 46, filed the suit Monday in federal court in St. Louis against Heartland Bank and Equifax.

She said both entities had declared her dead nearly a year ago even though she's clearly not deceased.

"She's contacting them, and saying, 'Excuse me, I'm not dead.' And even through that process, they continue to report her as deceased," Haman's lawyer, Sylvia Goldsmith, said.

Goldsmith said the mistake has prevented Haman from refinancing her mortgage twice, and she's also been turned down for credit cards.

"At this point, [Haman] is at a complete loss as to what else she can do," the suit says. "The entire experience has imposed upon [Haman] significant distrust, frustration and distress, and has rendered plaintiff hopeless as to her ability to regain her good name and the credit rating that she deserves and has worked hard to earn."

Haman is also upset the bank won't cash her life insurance check.

Last November I wrote about a Swedish man who was beaten with a fish.

A French judge hearing an assault case this week declared a frozen chicken to be a weapon.

The ruling in eastern France led to a 35-year-old man being given a year in prison for smacking his ex-girlfriend with the chicken he grabbed from her refrigerator during a drunken argument at her home.

The defendant, who was subject to a restraining order, trashed the woman's apartment after clobbering her with the chicken.

A local attorney said the court may have set a legal precedent for France by concluding the frozen bird amounted to a weapon.

The more one drinks the more unusual the weapon.

Here is more chicken news.

A member of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has filed an application to place a memorial on the side of the road on U.S. 129 in Georgia honoring “dozens of chickens” that were killed in a truck wreck on their way to the slaughterhouse.

Sarah Segal of Atlanta wants to put a 10-foot tombstone outside Gainesville, a town known as the “poultry capital of the world.”

“Although a relative of the deceased is usually required to fulfill requests for roadside memorials," Segal wrote in her application to the Georgia Department of Transportation, “these chickens, who spent their entire short lives on a factory farm have no known living relatives.”

PETA supports Segal’s application.

“PETA will provide the memorial if it’s approved. The tribute will let people know that the best way to prevent crashes such as this one is to go vegan, because chickens shouldn't have to make the trip to the slaughterhouse at all,” the organization wrote on its website.

While there’s nothing anyone can do to bring back the birds who died because of the crash, we can all help other chickens just by choosing mock meats and other tasty vegan foods.”

Killed in a wreck "On their way to the slaughterhouse"

I eat very little red meat. The last time I ate poultry was Thanksgiving. I'm sure PETA does good work, but this? I think someone may have too much time on their hands.
