They Don't Call Them Stilettos For Nothing

I must give credit where credit is due, way to prognosticate, Wanda.

How many times have I heard my partner say, "You could kill someone with those?" ....(It's rhetorical.)

A 44-year-old Houston woman stabbed her 59-year-old boyfriend to death with a stiletto heel. Police got a call from a neighbor about an argument in progress and discovered the dead man lying on the bedroom floor. At this point police are not saying if she was wearing the shoes at the time of the assault.

This is not the first time a shoe has been used as a weapon. Several years ago a Ohio woman stabbed her husband in the eye. In England a man was dubbed the "Shower Shoe Slapper" after repeated attacks in public baths. The unidentified and still at large man would run through the baths yelling "Take That Tokhes" while smacking asses with a rubber shower shoe.

I'm always interested in new dental health products. Just out and selling briskly is the Air Floss from Sonicare: With a quick burst, micro droplets of water are accelerated by pressurized air to disrupt and remove plaque in-between teeth. On sale now, $89.99

You can buy a can of pressurized air and a squirt gun for $3.00.

Wanda works for a dentist, you all know that, and I'm for anything that will improve my teeth and gums, but automated flossing? No.

How difficult is it to run some string through teeth? Amazon is selling a 6 pack of 43.7 yard (786.6 feet) coated floss for $16.45. Assuming 6 inches per use it's a 4.3 year supply. For the cost of one Air Floss you can buy a 23.5 year supply of the regular stuff.

I shouldn't write about this but I am getting frustrated. Enough with the gloom and doom reports on retirement. Just as I'm closing in on it I'm told $1 million may not be enough of a nest egg. Gosh, I guess I'll sell the Bentley. It's always something isn't it? If you're healthy and have a nice long life the money will run out.

On the other side of the page are the stories of public employees (in many municipalities across the country) padding their retirement income. A large part of retirement income is based on the last three years of earned income. Employees added sick leave, vacation, and other unused compensation to yearly income.

I can't afford to retire and as a taxpayer I'm supporting cheaters.

If things ain't bad enough.

A giant, hairy-legged mosquito capable of growing up to 20 times the size of regular mosquitoes has been spotted in Florida. They do not carry disease but it's been said their bite "practically breaks your arm" and "feels like the poke from a knife" (or a stiletto heel). They are "notoriously aggressive" and can "bite through clothing."

Floridians and people visiting there I have three words; repellent, spray, lots.

More Florida news.

A 34-year-old Jacksonville man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for repackaging used enema kits and returning them to a drug store. His defense attorney said his client was motivated by financial troubles when he returned them. CVS said it has contacted the 21 customers believed to have purchased the repackaged kits.

Enema kits? Twenty-One enema kits? Used? One thing for sure, this guy was not F.O.S. No matter how bad things seem, no matter how bleak things look, one thing I know, I will never be destitute enough to need used enema kit money.

Sometimes a shoe is not enough.

A woman was arrested and charged with domestic battery for using a garden gnome to beat her husband. The gnome in question was wearing a New Orleans Saints uniform. The victim was struck on the left ear and head. He refused medical attention at the scene. The gnome suffered minor damage.

A little paint, a little glue, and he'll be good as new.

Ah...if it was only that easy.
