How To Train Your Dragon.....

It's a really cute movie from DreamWorks animation. Misfit Viking kid can't please his father, a fierce dragon fighter, and the clan leader. Kid befriends a dragon and learns they are 'nothing like we think.' Life is like that, isn't it? Many things, when we get to know them, are nothing like we think.

It really is a fun film. The first time we saw it we were on a Princess cruise to Mexico. A couple of nights ago while watching TV we saw a promo for the "How To Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular." From DreamWorks, it's a stage presentation and it looks like a lot of fun. Kids will go nuts when they see the ads. Little tykes begging their parents to take them to the show.

Ticket prices range from $26.50-$61.50 with a service charge from $10.08 to $12.76. No parking, no souvenirs, no food, just the show tickets, a family of four will spend between $146.32 and $297.04. Any questions about why I think cruising is a great family value?

The holiday season is now in full swing. The college football bowl game schedule was announced the other day. Our LED Christmas lights are up, the decorations Wanda sets out are out, and the commercials are coming hot and heavy.

In my e mail today I received a free shipping offer from Sanders. In the Detroit area, Sanders makes wonderful candy, chocolates, dessert topping, and baked goods. When I was a kid going to Sanders for a hot fudge sundae was a very special treat.

September, when we were in Vancouver, our friends Andi and Wil told us about Rodgers Chocolates. We picked up some chocolate caramels sprinkled with sea salt and they were delicious. Saunders makes that combo as well. I want some and I would like dessert topping and brown sugar milk chocolates. Then I read the fine print, for free shipping your order must be at least one hundred dollars. Really ? On sweets? A hundred bucks?

Does Sanders include a free toothbrush and floss with each order?

This would make a great x-mas gift. As seen on TV and just under $15.00. For the special, or not so special, person in your life. The Micro Touch Magic Max hair removal tool. Nothing says thinking of you more than a tool to remove ear and nose hair.

Uncle Barry, I'm sorry to say, your nostrils are getting a little too hairy. Frieda and I send our Christmas cheers, so please use this on your nose and ears. Also included are toe nail clippers. Use them, add life to your nice bedroom slippers.

Over the week end Wanda and I stopped in our local Starbucks. The young man behind the counter had a sort of bandage on his right forearm. Wanda said it looked like the wraps they sometimes use on fruit. Like pears when they're packaged for shipment. The kid was covering a tattoo, I asked him if the tat was new. "No, we can't work with visible tattoo's so they need to be covered."

Wanda suggested he duplicates the tattoo on the covering and wear that. Maybe it's my nursing background or my sick imagination? I thought it looked like a bandage. I would rather see a tattoo than think my barista was covering an oozing open wound. Cover a tattoo? I wonder if they cover their mouths when they sneeze? I wonder if they wash their hands?

In the you learn sumptin' every day. Just about five minutes ago I learned how to eat Brie cheese. I was surfing for a picture of the pear coverings and got Brie cheese eating. Makes perfect sense to me. Last Friday we happened to purchase Brie. Wanda eats the outer hard rind, I don't. I cut it off and it seemed like a waste. I really didn't know what the rind was or if it should, or could, be eaten.

Brie cheese has a soft, almost molten core and a harder outer rind that is made of the cheese molds. People wondering how to eat Brie cheese often wonder if the outer, grayish hard rind needs to be removed prior to eating. This rind is meant to be eaten, and adds to the flavor and character of the Brie.

Now I know. But I don't care, I don't like it and I'll still cut it off.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

Advertisers must cover their butts, think we're all idiots, or both. I'm sure you have seen the fine print on many commercials. "Professional driver on closed course. Do not try this at home."

The new Ford Focus ad shows the auto driving off the road from a high elevation. The car soars into the air majestically. The disclaimer...."Do not try. Cars can not fly." Well, no shit Sherlock. I got so excited when I first saw the ad and then, damn! And here I thought Ford had done it, a flying car.

Maybe some day. But first, how about an electric or hybrid that's reasonably priced?
