12 Things To Know For 12-12-12

Late last night an article caught my attention. Things you shouldn't carry in your wallet. I'm going to share a few of these with you. This is an effort to expand the blog. Not only will I entertain, I will also inform.

1. Social Security Card: This is one of the ways people can steal your identity. If retired, also remove your Medicare Card. It must have been too difficult to come up with a random way to assign Medicare identifiers. Remember, your S.S. number is also your Medicare number. In an effort to make it somewhat more difficult to recognize, a letter is added to the end. The article suggests carrying a photocopy of the card. That's as stupid as using the numbers in the first place.

2. Password Cheat Sheets: Really? How many password protected sites do you go to during the work day? If you answer a lot, then stop it. You're at the office, why are you fooling around? If you use your smart phone on the lunch break, memorize your banking and your Facebook password. Better still, use the same password for everything, in for a penny, in for a pound.

3. Spare Keys: You should never keep a spare car or house key in your wallet or purse. Obviously, you lose the wallet, your drivers license has the home address etc. etc. etc. Better to hide a spare door key in a fake rock in front of the porch. Put the car key in the magnetic hide-a-key and stick it above the rear wheel. No one will think of looking in these two places.

4. Blank Checks: Never carry blank checks with you. If you must carry a check be sure to make it out and sign it. This way the thief will need to work harder and wash it before they steal all your funds.

5. Passports: You don't need a passport anywhere in the states so why carry one? A thief can use it for all kinds of things including new identification and foreign travel in your name. If your passport makes it to Europe you'll want to go along.

6. Multiple Credit Cards: They say people who owe have better credit scores than people who don't. I'm just sayin' is all. Don't carry more than one or two credit cards.

7. Birth Certificate: The article says not to carry your birth certificate. Do you even know where it is?

8. A Stack Of Receipts: That what it says. This is assuming someone is smart enough to glean information off these. Personally, I think if you have lots of receipts in your wallet or purse you're a little on the sloppy side.

9. Safe Combinations: You should never carry anything that looks like a lock or safe combination. Left-12 Right-35-Left-14 is a dead giveaway. If you have trouble with your memory write the numbers backwards and upside down. Like the checks, if they steal from you, make them work for it.

10. Phone Numbers: Guys, never carry a note that says something like, "For a good time, call Cynthia" 525-5573. Ladies, this goes for you too. A slip of paper with Massage from Rau'l is going to look a little suspect.

11. Cash: More than you can afford to lose or more than you need for one day. You have all those credit cards and blank checks. Why do you need cash?

12. Condoms: Married guys or in a relationship, this should be #1. Single guys, it's a little tacky. If you think you're going to need them stop at a store. They have a variety of sizes. It's a secure fellow that takes his date in to pick them out.

My friend Avie sent me this a while ago. "Beware-Amazon Rip-Off." A man complained he sent fifty dollars to Amazon for a penis enlarger. When he opened the box he got a magnifying glass with the warning, do not use in bright sun.
