Really, Gifts.....Where's Mine?

As of today I'm going to be keeping a watchful eye on my mailbox. Yesterday I heard the President (of the U.S.) is handing out presents. Or, as one man said, gifts. I do have a modicum of concern about this. The 'group' I belong to wasn't specifically named as recipients. And, with all this government 'gift' giving perchance the mail service (already going broke) won't be around to deliver it.

I'm once again going to steal from ESPN sports, "COME-ON MAN."

Yesterday Mitt Romney, while on a conference call with big money supporters blamed his loss on President Obama's promise of 'gifts' to key groups of the voting public.

Forgiveness of college loan interest was a 'gift' to college age voters. Obamacare that allowed kids up to age 26 coverage on their parents plan was also a 'gift.'
Free contraceptives lured the young women's vote.
Free medical care rallied the Latino and African American vote. As did the amnesty program for children of illegals.

The man who would be president also said, “You can imagine for somebody making $25,000 or $30,000 or $35,000 a year, being told you’re now going to get free health care, particularly if you don’t have it, getting free health care worth, what, $10,000 per family, in perpetuity — I mean, this is huge.”

So, now there are many leaders within the Republican Party distancing themselves from Romney. OK, he lost, that didn't work. Let's plan a strategy to attract voters in four years.

And while all this political posturing is going on. While the Republican Party is trying to move forward and become more appealing to women, this is happening in Ohio.

The Health Committee of the Ohio House of Representatives advanced a bill on Wednesday that could strip $1.7 million in federal funding from Planned Parenthood. All 11 Republicans on the committee voted in favor of the bill, and all nine Democrats opposed.

COME-ON MAN. This lunacy is frustrating at best. It's easy for me to say sharing is caring. I don't have much, I wish I did. Helping others would be very gratifying. Until yesterday I thought, among other things, that's what our government did, help people. I never knew that help was a 'gift.'
