I'm getting a late start on the day. So far this morning; I did some shopping at Safeway and picked up a prescription. I went downtown to get a hair cut, a new barber by the way, and I took two showers. Thought you ought to know.
The fact that I took two showers before 11AM means I can skip a couple days down the road. I doubt if it will be while Wanda and I are on the cruise, maybe when we get home?
The new barber named Mark:
The last few years I have been going to a fellow named Wayne. He recently moved to the next town. Two weeks ago I went to his new location. I wasn't real happy with his last cut and I can get unhappiness anywhere. Mark did a nice job so I have a new barber, at least while I still have hair.
Oh, oh, exciting news. My new doctor is out on her maternity leave. I had an appointment last Thursday with her fill-in. Last month my new doc said, "I'll be going out on maternity leave but my replacement will be able to fill-in, no problem." NO PROBLEM......I assumed that meant, no problem.
Last Thursday I saw the fill-in no-problem-doc who wrote my new prescription. I said, "I see a potential problem." She said, "I will send a fax to your insurance adjuster today so you should have, NO PROBLEM."
Today is Tuesday. At this point I am still waiting for the insurance adjuster to approve the Rx I dropped off last Thursday.
And, this is good.....one of the medications I have been taking for years the adjuster denied. Why? Because, I wasn't thinking. I had several refills on a prescription my old doctor wrote. It never occurred to me, it never crossed my mind that the new doc, the one who is out on maternity leave, would need to actually WRITE for this medication.
A month supply is $24.99, I paid for it this morning. As for the other medication, the one I can't afford, I'm still waiting.
Poor guy, he must work lots of hours.
I called an 800 number this morning to check on my prescription. I called a little before seven, my time. I didn't know where this company was based or if it was open. After a couple of rings I got the obligatory menu tree. I did the navigation and after less than a minute Darryl answered my call.
"Wow, it's early, I said. Do you guys work 24 hours a day?" And he replied, "No, I don't, sir."
I guess I should have been a little more specific?
It reminds me of the time Wanda and I were having lunch in a sort of Jewish Deli in Berkeley. The waiter brought a bowl of pickles to the table, new dills, like cucumbers. I used to love old dill pickles and still do, however, I no longer eat pickles, high sodium you know. Before the kid left the table I asked him if they had any old dill pickles. "I don't think so, we just got these in a few days ago."......please pass the mustard.
Here is a great example of modern technology.
Over the week end I took a nap. When I woke Wanda told me my cell phone, which was laying on the table, made some odd noises. I checked the phone and had three messages from a number I didn't recognize. I also had a voice mail message. I checked the voice mail but it was very hard to understand.
What would you do? I called the number on my phone and a woman answered. I repeated the number and she said, "You have the wrong number." So, I tried a second time and again she answered. I repeated the number, again and she told me I had the wrong number, again.
"Wait a minute, am I dialing (and we all know we don't dial any more) wrong or do I have a bad number here?" And then she said, "Oh, I'm sorry, that's my home phone number. I forgot it because I rarely use it any more."
Once we got everything straight I told her she called me three times and left a message, and she was calling the wrong number.
And then I said, "So you don't know your phone number and you are calling mine and I don't know you and you don't know me but we are having this conversation."......Maybe I should send you a Face book friend request?
Talk to you tomorrow.
