Just so you know I haven't purchased a hearing aid.....Sunday morning when Wanda stopped back in the house while on her walk.
She said, "The first leg is done."
He heard, The porch light is on.
One hour, it's just one little hour. Most everyone I know dislikes the time change. I'll go out on a limb and say most everyone anyone knows dislikes the time change. So, why can't the people who decide these things leave the time alone? I guess ignoring what the majority of us want is par for the course.
Thanks to the clock and time change I felt completely out of sync yesterday.
This morning I woke at 6:30, or, was it 7:30? Wanda was just finishing her morning exercises. She was working out and watching the news. I went into the family room with good intentions. I was going to work out but didn't. I sat down and watched the remainder of the news. The reporting reminded me why I don't often watch, or pay attention.
"Strong smell in the Bay Area, the news person said. Back after this message to tell you if there is any danger."
Do they think we're stupid?
Sure, I'll leave my windows open another two minutes while I wait to discover how toxic this is. I would love to hear, "No danger of the strong smell in the Bay Area. Back after this message to tell you what is causing it." By the way, it was an oil pipeline leak. Although it did stink, the news reports no damage to the environment, sure.
Years ago, just before I met Wanda, the area I lived in was mostly apartments. I was walking one morning, turned the cornor and saw a large group of people. The sidewalk was cordoned off with police tape, the street full of emergency vehicles. The people were all looking up at one particular apartment. I asked what was happening and someone said, "See that window? There is a guy up there with a gun."
Yes, maybe we are stupid.
A hundred or more people are standing around under a window waiting for, what? The guy with the gun to start shooting? I envisioned all these folks standing in line doing jumping jacks while shouting, "Hey, shoot us, we're targets." I don't know what happened. I didn't stick around.
A big pet peeve of mine is slow traffic because of rubber necks. There is nothing fascinating about someone getting a ticket on the side of the road. I have no desire to look at car accidents, probably because I worked in a hospital. I know if there was really something to see, and people saw, they would be sorry they did. There are some things that never ever leave you.
Another pet peeve, I wish people driving in movies would KEEP THEIR EYES ON THE ROAD. In a recent movie a young man was driving while looking at and talking to his father, the passenger. When he finally looked at the road ahead, a stalled truck was in his path. The kid, trying to avoid an accident rolled his car and the father was killed. This tragedy set up the movie as the boy now had a reason to be sullen and angry. OK, that movie I can understand the lack of attention but they do it all the time. Please, watch where you are going.
Something else that bothers me. Every time someone in a movie goes into a hospital emergency room the admitting nurse is on the phone, a bitch, or both. Usually both. She is having a personal conversation while waving off the patient. Nurses don't do that. And all male nurses are not gay. On "Nurse Jackie" only half the guys are.
I just glanced at the clock on one of the electronic devices that litter this room, 12:35. The time changed the other day and I'm not yet comfortable with it, but how did it get so late, so fast?
Then I looked over at the microwave clock, it read 0. I'm working on the Acer on battery, we obviously had a power outage.
It was only three minutes but this is the fourth or fifth power loss the last week. I wonder if PG&E is working on something out this way? Maybe I should stop resetting the clocks?
I thought the nation wide Emergency Alert System test was today, it's tomorrow. It's today the earth will be not hit by an asteroid.
There is no need to worry as today's asteroid will be some two hundred thousand miles away. But, just so we know, like maybe we should be thankful for near misses. They say if it did hit the ocean we could expect waves seventy feet high. How many people do you think would be out at the shore with binoculars and surf boards?
Along with today's asteroid pass comes the information it will be 2028 before we have another "near hit." Odd, back in 2003 many news articles had an asteroid passing near earth in 2014. I guess that one is lost in space? And here I am complaining about a one hour time change.
