It's only a conundrum beating it's rhythm....

I am a man of many talents. Today I went shopping at Safeway and booked a zip line adventure for Wanda. Next September when we are on the Alaska cruise she will strap on the straps and clip the clips in Ketchikan. It will be her third zip. One of the times maybe I'll go along and take a picture or two. I have got to give her credit, not many old broads, sorry, older ladies would do it.

I'm dealing with a conundrum. The other day I purchased two avocados at Safeway. One was really good while the other was disgusting. The store is good about taking my word. I tell the produce person I got a bad item and pick a new one. I tell the cashier and wa-la, a replacement, no charge.

Actually, Safeway claims if you have bad fruit or veggies it will refund the purchase and give you a replacement. I have never asked for a refund. Them taking me for my word and replacing the item is good enough. But now that things are more expensive I started thinking.

The other day I paid one dollar and twenty five cents for the bad avocado. Today the replacement was seventy seven cents. Based on the prices I should have asked for a forty eight cent refund. Can you imagine how disruptive that would have been. I'm confused and I wrote this stuff.

Oh, almost forgot. Hell, hath frozen over. The store manager called last Saturday to let us know the product we wanted is now in stock.

I got an AARP Bulletin in yesterday's mail. I was going through it this morning and spotted an ad for The Bose Wave Music System. It's a well know respected name and product. However, I have never heard, or am aware of hearing, a Bose product. This model is a radio and CD player, it's listed for $499.00.

Just as soon as I finish reading about my ten dollar Social Security monthly raise. When I complete the "Can You Afford To Retire" survey. Right after I have taken notes on the "Ten Things That Will Save You Ten Cents" I'll be sure to order a five hundred dollar CD player.

I think we paid five bucks at a yard sale for the one in our bedroom.

Are you frustrated by the quality of your sleep? Do You toss and turn or wake with a sore back?

Are you kidding? Of course I'm frustrated and yes, I wake up with a sore back. I can't remember the last time I slept through a night.

All I need to eliminate my sleep problems and sore body is a Sleep Number Bed you say? I've got news for you, mister advertiser. If I spent, conservatively, twenty five hundred dollars for a bed, I wouldn't sleep any better. I'm pretty sure the aggravation over spending that much would keep me awake night, after night, after night.

I hate that I'm starting to hope that the bed and appliances out live me.

SPECIAL OFFER: GOV'T ISSUED GOLD COINS

Five dollar gold coins at the "incredibly low price of only $172.00 each."

A couple of things confuse me. There is a strict limit of ten coins per household. They are only releasing 2,500 coins but special arrangements are now available for orders over $25,000. I wonder how many will sell through the AARP outlet? Maybe it's just me? But, there are a couple of things here that don't add up.

AFFORDABLE TERM LIFE INSURANCE:

I don't have and will never have, life insurance. It's a serious matter of choice. If I had insurance it would be like betting the company I'll expire before the policy, a bet I would not be happy about winning. If I lost the bet I would be alive which is good. If I lost the bet I would have paid in just under thirty thousand dollars. I would be out all that money.

Jeez, this is worse than the damn avocado.

I don't know why but the song Turn Turn Turn just popped into my head. It may be because there really is a time for everything. Much of the blog is silly and fun. Some of it is, I hope, thought provoking. I do think that the time for silliness and fun increases with age, mine and yours. Every day we're exposed to so many things that can frustrate and anger even enrage us. Remember, look at the bright side and allow yourself laughter and happiness, it's easy if you try.
