Take the toter's out Tuesday......

Our second Take Out The Toter's Tuesday and I remembered. I suppose it was the note on the fridge or Wanda mentioning it this morning.

Should we talk about the weather? It's around 65 here now, just beautiful. I read the "heat index" will hit 126 in Iowa today. A ballplayer named Satchel Paige had a saying that I will paraphrase. How old would you be if you didn't know how old you were? I'm wondering, how hot would you be if you didn't know how hot it was? We have heat index and chill factor to let us know how bad it is. Chattering teeth, visible breath, and numb fingers should be enough. For heat, sweat should be a pretty good indication it's hot.

If anyone that reads this is dealing with the terrible heat, stay cool, drink lots of water and wear a hat. You can also carry an umbrella for shade. Or, you can wear an umbrella hat. Don't forget the sun screen. Actually, it might be better if you stay indoors with the AC on. Yes, do that.

Over the years I've picked up a few interesting names. If you have read these examples elsewhere I apologize. The actress/singer Pia Zadora and the ball player Shane Victorino are two names you can do a lot with. For instance, Pia could be, P. Izadora and Shane could be Victor Ino. Here is a new one Wanda discovered. The old actor Don Ameche could be Donna Meche or probably better because he is a he, Don A. Meche.

Chuck, Chuck, Bo Buck.....................Banana Fanna.............

Speaking of names, shortly after Wanda and I married we consolidated financial resources and obligations. We also filled out new paperwork for the home loan. There were processing errors, Wanda was listed as Wanda Shulak AKA Wanda Sawick, her new and old names. A.K.A is Also Known As, and Wanda wasn't. It took us several tries and more than several months to rectify it.

A few years ago we were getting IRS mail (bills) for the guy across the street. Initially I took the mail over there. I don't think he cared or did anything and it kept coming. Next I marked it "forward to" and gave it back to the mail person, it kept coming. Then I called the post office, but it kept coming. Finally I called the IRS.

The Devil/Bitch woman I spoke with had a real attitude. She implied the bills were mine, my responsibility, and did nothing to help. Dealing with the home loan people was almost as bad.

I don't know how many calls it took but I had a favorite. I was talking with a customer service person who said, and I quote, "Who's this here AKA Wanda?" She didn't know it was an abbreviation for Also Known As but thought it was a second person named AKA. Since that time Wanda has used AKA as a nickname.

I have always liked nicknames. Our grandson Nicholas has a real nickname, Nick.

I have always been called Chuck. Over the years I have used Chas but never Charley which sounds like a girls name. I don't know if a name is a nick name if it's a shortened variation of a name? Is Bob for Robert a nick name or Will or Bill for William? Or is a nickname something like Ace or Aka? So much to think about, it boggles the mind.

My cousin Rick owns and operates Uncle Harry's Deli in Michigan. The menu items have family names. Some are favorite sandwich combo's like a Lynne Special. Other's have a name attached like Yummy says Cindy. I don't know if I'm still on the menu? At one time I was, a Hot Dog, a great big Kosher Hot Dog on a bun. Now that's saying something.
