At six this morning we put a chair and futon on the curb. The garbage company was scheduled to pick them up today. By six thirty this morning the futon was gone. Someone saved us twenty five dollars, thank you very much. The futon has been in the garage for a few years. I hope they clean the cover before sleeping on it.
It's amazing, every day there is at least one, "Oh My God can you believe this" on our Comcastic Home Page.
This morning I thought it would be Jeff Conaway of "Grease" and "Taxi" fame. According to the news, the 60 year old was found unconscious on May 11th and has been in a coma since. An overdose of drugs is probably the cause. I mean no disrespect and feel very sorry for the man. It's a tragic situation.
Conaway was on "Taxi" from 1978 to 1983. For five years, in his late twenties and early thirties, he had fame and wealth. Most likely he has been reliving those days for the last twenty eight years. How terrible it must be for so many like him. Having all the exposure and adulation then suddenly, nothing. Unhappy with today, afraid of tomorrow and always living in the past.
Just an example of what isn't important in the grand scheme of things.
Then I read about Shauna Sand, the fourth wife (now divorced) of Lorenzo Lamas. The ex-Playboy Playmate, is described as a "Reality TV Star" from her days as a co-star on "Leave It To Lamas." She is currently married to a twenty five year old who is, I guess, a star by marriage once removed. Shauna and hubby were arrested for various "spousal abuse" charges.
Just an example of what isn't important in the grand scheme of things.
Late last night or early this morning I woke up thinking I discovered how to convert water to gasoline. I took some notes so I wouldn't forget anything. This is what I had this morning.
"The other day when I packed your stuff for snacks at work I gave you some of my cookies. I just took five cookies from your bag because I was out."
Just an example of what is important in the grand scheme of things, cookies and milk.
The rest is rambling on about something that may, or may not, have happened in 1960. I also have a few sentences about creamed herring and dill pickles.
Speaking of dill pickles. Wanda and I were having lunch at a real deli in Berkeley, Ca. I asked the waitperson if they had old dill pickles. His answer, "Oh no sir, we got all of them just a couple days ago."
Just an example of what is important in the grand scheme of things, humor and good food.
What a difference a day makes, it's beautiful today. The temperature is 74 degrees. It's hard to believe it was so nasty two days ago. If this continues I'll be complaining it's too hot by next Tuesday.
What is important to me? Wanda of course. Sun and blue sky. Wanda's zucchini bread and oatmeal cookies. A computer that will go two weeks without making changes when I'm not looking. A car that starts when I turn the key, stops when I step on the brake and gets decent gas mileage. A well made latte and a good cup of coffee. A pair of 36" jeans I can comfortably wear without having to undo the top button. The Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books and movies. Anything from Pixar films. Low blood sugar, blood pressure and LDL. Disneyland and Nevada City and cruise ships.
Friends and family. A roof over my head, a cat on my lap, and good food on the table.
I'm pretty sure I could add about a hundred other things to the list. Financial security should really be listed, but, not wealth. The best reason I can think of for having more dough than you need is giving it away.
This is my list and speaking for Wanda, hers too. I think it's a pretty good one, how about yours?
