A picture is worth a thousand words............

When this starts to become like work, I will stop posting. For now it's something I look forward to doing. My goal is to write at a minimum every other day. Since Wanda does not work on Friday it falls under the "week end" heading. Friday and Saturday will be the maybe yes post, maybe no post days, however, Sunday will most likely always be a no post day. As of now I only feel slightly guilty if I no post on a yes post day. If I feel more than slight guilt on a yes post day, or, any guilt on a no post day I will start to no post every day. Today happens to be a yes post day and I have a post to post. I also have a picture or two to post. They (who or whom) ever they are say a picture is worth a thousand words. This will be a short yes post as I will have the pictures post for me. Thank you..

I'm thinking if someone did stumble upon this blog, they might think I was a complainer. I bet they would also think I couldn't accomplish much without major problems. If they did, and they would, I will say this, to them. Maybe you're right? I know I can't be the only person that makes more than one trip to Home Depot. I know others soon discover they don't have the proper tool in their tool box. I bet lots of folks feel like they may not be the sharpest tool in the shed. I can't be the only loser when the to-do list gets projects on it. I never had a house with a garage, or, a father figure to teach me "tool" stuff.

I enlisted in the service just after my eighteenth birthday. I remember this very, very well. We had a two day series of tests that would help place us into jobs. The different categories were, (and I am generalizing them) mathematics, science, language, mechanical and psychological. There were theory and practical aspects of the various components of the test. I scored in the higher percentile of all with the exception the mechanical. The instructor told me my score was among the lowest of the day. He said, "According to this score you don't know the difference between a screwdriver and an awl." I replied, "What is an awl?" I wanted to make sure here so I looked it up: An awl is a long pointed spike.

I can't remember exactly how many different jobs in my service branch were mechanical in nature. I think all but one. Since the military had enough problems they didn't need to worry about me blowing them up. I was sent to basic secretarial school. In civilian terms I was a "personnel assistant" and "office manager." In military terms I was a peon. It was my first big chance to learn how to "do stuff" and I was a bust. Now, years later I always have and probably always will stumble through the garage and Home Depot of life.

Wow.....our next project is the front bathroom. That's going to be f-u-n.

You may remember we recently purchased a new television. The TV was so nice looking it required a new piece of furniture. Since we now had a new TV and a beautiful piece of furniture from Scandinavia Designs we decided to paint the family room/kitchen. Once the new TV and the beautiful piece of furniture were in the freshly painted room we started talking about our old surround sound system. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk. Wanda and I did a whole lot of talking.

To make a lot of talking a little writing, we decide to get a small, rather inexpensive system commonly called HTIB. I think these should be called HTIAB but they don't ask my opinion. Home Theater In A Box is very convenient. It's usually quick and easy to set up. You have everything you need in one package and the prices are very reasonable. Wanda made a few phone calls, got a few ideas and we made a decision. We have been dealing with Best Buy and had them put our names on a Sony HTIB with a DVD player. This was Saturday, the day before Super Bowl. This was the beginning of our quest to incorporate a nice sound system in our family room.

It was early, just a little after ten o'clock in the morning. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out with temperatures in the low sixties. We were going to get to the store and back home in less than an hour. One box, six small speakers and a DVD player. All the wires have plugs on the ends and are color coded. This thing has a microphone that calibrates the speakers, it is FOOL proof. We are going to have this up and running in a couple of hours.

How we got from that...................to this rats nest of speaker wire, cables, and plugs is tomorrows story. For now, I need to eat some lunch.
