I often do a 10 Things You Need To Know For (insert day of week) search for blog fodder. Today's returned 580,000,000 hits. I rarely venture past page one since the lists are usually the same, but today I found a discrepancy. The East Lansing Gazette thinks we need to know about the Cannes Film Festival. The Atlantic Post Dispatch thinks Bob Dylan.

Who decides these 10 things we need to know every day? I don't care about O.J. , the Simpson not the juice. And I sure don't care about the IRS and the Tea Party, not the Tea you drink like o.j. (the juice not the Simpson) or the Party like you're having fun. Although you could think of the Tea Party, white rabbits and guys in funny hats.
I tried to find the grand high Poobah, the originator, the author extraordinaire of the things I need to know each day. I Googled: who makes up the 10 things you need to know lists? Admittedly, I didn't check all 7 billion 140 million returns (which took .34 seconds). I didn't see an answer, I saw lots more lists.
Ten Things Every Girl In Her 20's Should Know, 10 Things You May Not Know About Vikings, 10 Things you Need To Know About Losing Weight, 10 Things I Wish I Had Known Before Becoming A Parent, 10 Things You Need To Know About Sanitation, 10 Creepy Things You Didn't Know About Your Body, are but a few.
Obviously, not a girl but I am thinking birth control times ten. The movie "How To Train Your Dragon" is all I need to know about Vikings. Losing weight is difficult and takes discipline. There are a lot more than 10 things to know about parenting. There is nothing I care to know about sanitation, or creepy body things. OK, maybe one creepy body thing.
There are the Top 10 Trendiest Boy and Girl Cat Names: Sheldon and Charlie, Jackson and Fiona, Bentley and Olive, Winston and Ellie, Ziggy and Katniss (Hunger Games) Zeus and Willow, Cooper and Luna, Thor and Stella, Loki and Izzy, and Dexter and Penny.
The Trendiest Dog Names: Dexter and Luna, Thor and Layla, Gunner and Piper, Bentley and Nala, Jax and Stella, Ace and Willow, Leo and Maya, King and Athena, Simba and Charlie, and Milo and Ella.
Charlie, Bentley, Willow, Luna, Dexter, Thor and Stella made both lists. Ellie and Ella are sort of alike so are Jax and Jackson. Zeus only made the cat list but it sort of goes with Thor. Zeus was the god of Olympus and Thor was a god in Norse mythology.
Of all these names I much prefer our cats name, Steve.
My Aunt Belle had the poem "The More You Know" on her kitchen bulletin board. The more you know the more your forget, the more you forget the less you know, the less you know the less you forget, the less you forget the more you know.
Wanda tells me the brain can only hold so much. When something new comes in you have to make room for it, so something old falls out. I am pretty satisfied with what I currently have. I think I'll stop reading lists.
