"Here You Leave Today.....

.....And Enter The World Of Yesterday, Tomorrow, And Fantasy."

Or..... It Was Great While It Lasted.

Not only am I having my usual Monday morning difficulties with writers block, I haven't posted in over ten days. Since we left on Superbowl Sunday I'll start there. The home team lost, the commercials were OK, and we didn't watch the halftime show.

It's expensive and it has some hooky attractions. Once is enough for the Enchanted Tiki Room and if you don't want the song in your head all day, avoid It's A Small World, but Disneyland is truly magical. When I walk under the train tracks and out onto Main Street I'm a kid once again. Wanda and I spent four days in the world of Disney, four days away from the real world, and we didn't miss a thing.

I was in my early twenties the first time I went to Disneyland. They sold ticket books, the Pirates of the Caribbean, among others, was an E-Ticket ride. I heard a Disney cast member talking to a guest about the old days. She said, "Those tickets are valuable, if you have a complete booklet you turn it in for a free day pass." The two weren't yet born when the switch to the current pricing policy was made in 1982. There were a lot of people in the park who were not yet born in 1982, but there were lots of us who were.

Thursday morning we had an early entrance ticket. Good for an hour before the general opening, Wanda and I took advantage of it. We went on a few rides and wandered over to the Matterhorn Bobsleds, opened in 1959. Last year the cars were changed to single seats, three in each, with two together. A total of six passengers then ride each bobsled and I was the last in ours. I don't think we had anyone under 55 and the three men had thinning gray hair. We all got a laugh out of that and we all made grunting noises when hauling our asses up out of the cars.

Over our four days we did everything on our "to-do" list. We also saved a few attractions for the next visit. The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Indiana Jones rides will never get old. The new Cars Land in California Adventure is breath taking. As the saying goes, "It's worth the price of admission." Take a look at this video from You Tube.

The Disney experience is just a part of what makes the visit special. Watching kids expressions when they see Mickey or Minnie or any of the many characters is heart warming. I love sitting and talking and spending time with Wanda. We work at our health and are thankful we can still do this. And once again I'm thankful we have each other. It was a real nice mini vacation.

Over the next few days I hope to post a small photo album. And tomorrow to be back to normal (whatever that means) blog postings. So, I'll talk to you later.
