| Ketchikan, Alaska |
One of the things people who haven't been on a cruise comment on is short time in port. And, sometimes that is the case. It's not as if it's a surprise, you know when you book your trip. Because our itinerary took us far north into Glacier Bay our time here in Ketchikan was cut short. Our scheduled departure to Victoria, B.C. is noon.
Wanda has a zip line adventure planned and I'm going to do a Duck Tour with Andi, Wil, Debbie and Jeff. After my tour I told Wanda I would look for those dreaded Alaskan socks. Does it seem odd? Wanda goes out swinging from wires and I go shopping.
I was able to find my socks, nice ones with bears and eagles on them. Wanda had a great experience zipping. This was her third time. She told me the average age of the people on the adventure was just over 60. I guess there's a little life left in the old folks.
In case you don't know what a Duck Tour is. I took a picture of the 'other' Duck. If you look carefully you can see people in it taking pictures of us.
Ketchikan is considered the "Salmon Capitol Of The World"
Creek Street is an area left over from the old 'Gold Rush' days. What was once a thriving Red Light District, guess it sounds better than a bunch of whore houses, is now a historic boardwalk area. Dolly's House is the most famous.
I have lots more to share with you. Our in room tea, the MUTS movie of the evening, a few meals shared and generally a couple of great days leading up to the end of this, the first leg of our three cruises. A little more of Ketchikan, the evening in Victoria and our overnight on Golden to Vancouver. So, stop on back there's more to come.
To Mary: Yes, when the ship was in Glacier Bay the bridge web cam was broadcasting live on the Movies Under The Stars (MUTS) screen.
