| Look, it's a floating hunk of ice. |
During the night the ship sailed into the Inside Passage on our way to a noon docking in Juneau.
Our plans for the day depend on the weather. We may take the Mt. Roberts Tram , something I've never done. I'm not comfortable with heights but would love to go up, if we have a clear day. Our other possibility is a visit to Mendenhall Glacier , which we have seen.

| Mendenhall Glacier, 2005
This was our forth time in Juneau so we had the luxury of doing nothing. The glacier shown was taken on our second cruise.
Since it was misting and/or raining and it was a little chilly we decided to do a little window shopping and make it a short stay in town.
No self respecting goodie eater would pass up a visit to The Alaskan Fudge Company which is where we were headed. You may think fudge is fudge? This stuff is FUDGE.
Will I ever learn? I should know this by now. DO NOT OPEN THE FUDGE.
Catherine and Ted came in the store when we were at the counter. Wanda said something to Cat about sharing some of ours. It was pretty crowded and I don't think she heard her. Whatever, they got their signals crossed and both purchased fudge. I don't know what they bought but we got a pound and a half. It's just as well we didn't share.
Before we came to the end of the cruise we came to the bottom of the fudge box. If we ever buy it again I'll have it shipped home. I won't even taste it.
There is a very interesting time phenomenon when it comes to cruising. We book well in advance to lock up the cabin of our choice. In this case it was seventeen months. Over the time from booking to leaving I darn near count the days. OK, I do count the days as I have a countdown clock on my desk top. Every time I sign into the Princess web site I see a "days to your cruise" application. So, while I'm waiting and wishing the cruise would hurry and happen I am wishing away my life. Eventually, it's cruise time.
Once on the ship the first few days pass slowly. Just before the mid point it feels like I've been on the ship a very long time. Once the mid point is passed the second half of the cruise shifts to hyper speed, I hate that. If I could get the second half to crawl like the first half, I would be happy.
The best way to treat the end of cruise blues is to book another one.
Golden Princess is scheduled in Juneau from noon to the all aboard call at 9:30 PM.
It was truly a lazy day for us, we ate and took naps and ate. The daily movies were "The Three Stooges" and "The Avengers." There are also several movie stations you can watch on the cabin TV. Today I think "Rio" a very cute animated film and one of the recent Harry Potter films are playing. We watched a little of "Gentlemen Prefer Blonds" with Jane Russell and Marilyn, it's always cute. At 4 PM the Monday Night Football game will be on the outdoor big screen.
And, to commemorate our first Alaska stop a naturalist is on board. As well as Libby Riddles, the first female to win the Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
Much more tomorrow.....leaving Juneau for Skagway.
