It's December, again

Jill the Cat just jumped up on the desk and is licking my hands as I try to type. I wish she would find a different hobby. It's hard enough without her.

Like I wrote the other day, December is here. We have twenty four days to Christmas, that is if we do not get blown away. The winds in California last night and today are freaky strong. Daughter Rebecca called this morning and told me they have a "wind day" there, school is closed, She teaches in Pasadena. The news reported 150 mph winds at the highest elevations down south.

In my morning e mail, one request to "update my files with B of A" and two requests to "click on the link below" and resend my "direct deposit." My initial reaction, do they think we are stupid? Then after some thought I realized the answer is, yes. These phishing artists must get some action or they wouldn't try. Just to emphasize how they truly Phish, I don't make any payments, ever, on the computer, Wanda does.

Yesterday I came to a frightening conclusion, I'm a hoarder.  Television programmers have known for years we love to see other peoples misery, it makes us feel better, which is why there are several shows about hoarding. I wonder when they will get around to someone like me?

Hi.....my name is Chuck and I'm a hoarder, an e-mail hoarder.

I was trying to delete a few things yesterday and I mistakenly sent my entire in box to the trash folder. I now have over five hundred messages in said trash. I had all the messages I couldn't bring myself to erase. Pictures of Rebecca's cats, pictures of Jennifer's cats, pictures of our cats. Lots of mail I planned on doing something with, but never did.

I can go into my trash and retrieve everything, but why? Something that was dormant for months, I don't need now. I guess it would be a good time to clean up my "urgent" box too. I haven't opened it in ten weeks.

See, it just goes to show, what's urgent today probably won't be in a month or two.

Speaking of hoarding I saw a commercial this morning for "Space Bags." I first thought it may be an ad for old ladies, but it was storage. It was a "But Wait" item so prevalent this time of year. For just twenty dollars, and shipping and handling, you got an assortment of "vacuum" bags. You can store extra items in these bags, squash them down using a vacuum cleaner, and have lots more room to store other things.

I have an idea, donate all that extra "stuff." Then you won't have a reason to buy more things to hold items you don't need and rarely use.

Here's what's TRENDING now. I used to think the word trend meant something that was in the publics consciousness for a while. Like maybe a certain style or a type of cocktail. You know, something that was newsworthy or popular for some time. Now it looks like a trend is something that lasts on Facebook or Twitter for a couple hours.

This mornings news: The strong winds in LA, snow in Las Vegas, the things people are currently texting about, this is what a trend has become. Very soon, the attention span of a child will be all any one needs to get through life.

"Send us your video's and pictures, we love to get them." I heard this on the Weather Channel and a local news program this morning. Of course they love to get them, it makes things easier. Hey, let's fire all the field reporters, let the people out there send us their pictures, and stories, and movies.

Here's what's TRENDING now......
