Let a smile be your umbrella and a toilet seat your throne

Wow.....I take what was supposed to be a mini vacation and the blog interface was changed.

Since Wanda only worked one day last week we had a short train trip to Reno planned. We also figured it would be an opportune time to get some things done around the house. Well, the mini vacation never happened and the house things.....maybe next time?

We had reservations on the California Zephyr from our home station to Reno for last Wednesday. It's a very pretty ride of about six and a half hours. We had a really nice "spa" suite booked at the El Dorado Hotel and Casino for two nights, returning home Friday. Andi and Wil, our cruising buddies were also going to Reno with a group from IBM. We planned on getting together for dinner Thursday night. The Arizona D-Backs AAA team plays in Reno and we thought about taking in a ballgame. We were really looking forward to the trip.

Tuesday afternoon I noticed my cell phone was down to one battery bar. I have service with TracFone, a pay as you go deal. The service is fine but you get what you pay for. Considering I paid nothing for my phone......it's about what I got. The company must get it's battery supply at the "used" battery center. I recharge it, often. I discovered the only way to get a "Full Battery" icon is to charge with the phone powered, off.

Tuesday after charging I forgot my phone was off until close to midnight. I powered up and immediately received two messages. The first one was from Amtrak telling me our train to Reno was cancelled. The second one was from Amtrak telling me our train from Reno was cancelled. It was now after midnight, Wanda was sleeping and I had a decision to make.

Wake Wanda or not wake Wanda? My first decision, not wake Wanda. In the morning we could talk about our options. We could drive to Reno, about three and a half hours each way. We could take a commuter type train from home to Sacramento, about an hour and ten minutes. Once there we would take an Amtrak bus the rest of the way, about three hours. Or, we could cancel the trip, which is what we did.

I thought the train cancellation was due to Irene. The hurricane caused so many cancellations in the east we figured Amtrak needed all workers out there. It wasn't the storm, it was a tractor in Nebraska. The train derailed, there were seventeen injuries and we didn't get to Reno. The Zephyr originates in Oakland, California and Chicago. The accident in Nebraska would take three days to clear, so no long distance trains could operate. I'm not going to try and understand how a truck, or a piece of farm equipment, or a car, or even a person can possibly expect to win a race with a train.

Now that I had extra time I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish, or not. One thing I had to do, install a new toilet seat in the back bathroom.

Deluxe Seat.........Strong, Durable Multi-Coat Finish. Adjustable Hinge for a Perfect Fit on any Standard ANSI Toilet Bowl. Durable (they had this twice) Rust-Free Installation Hardware and Hinge Screws (they're PLASTIC) Comfort Seats.....where quality and comfort meet.

Color Coordinated Hinges and Bumpers for Added Beauty........added beauty? It's a freakin' toilet seat. The thing that is going to see it the most is a tuchis (a rear end for my non Yiddish speaking friends).

On the side of the box it came in.....honest, I'm not making this up, are four panels:

Tools Required: the picture is of two screwdrivers.
Insert Hinge Bolt: a picture of a plastic "bolt."
Easy Installation: a picture of the plastic "bolt" and a plastic nut.
and.....drum roll please
ENJOY: a picture of a toilet.......it actually reads, ENJOY!

See how easy life can be. When things seem bleak, when you are a little down, if your head's in a cloud, all you need do is, sit on a Comfort Seat.....where quality and comfort meet.......and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.
