Oh Please.......how does the blog site know? And, why would anyone from these counties be interested in this? According to my statistics page I have readers in: The Netherlands, Costa Rica, Malaysia, Canada, France, Singapore, Denmark, Latvia, Russia, and of course, the USA.
My old friend Avie, who is the twin sister of a girlfriend of mine when I was around 14, lives in Costa Rica. We "discovered" each other on Face Book several months ago. She is an avid reader and contributor to the blog. So, I understand why Costa Rica.
The Netherlands? I'm not even sure what part of the world this area resides in. I'm not even sure it's a country? Doesn't "nether" mean something like no where? When I think about it I picture the Netherlands in a kids story book.....The young man was sitting on a wooden pier daydreaming about hunting the large red and brown dragon. But before he was able to escape the boundaries of his home in the Netherlands he heard his mother calling, "Seymour.....go wash your hands, dinner's ready.....and don't make me tell you twice!
Malaysia? I saw an old Rita Hayworth/Clark Gable movie about a rubber plantation. I think it was set in Malaysia. Eric, my son-in-law, owns a Big O tire store and tires are made from rubber. This is as close a connection as I can muster. I don't really know if Eric reads the blog.
Canada? For all I know I have relatives living in Canada. It is, after all, our close neighbor. And the last time I checked Canadians spoke English, except in areas of Montreal. Speaking and reading the language I write in is a definite positive. When it comes to understanding the blog it's not a guarantee but it does help.
France? I see London, I see France, I see someones underpants. I have been eating French Toast and French Fries most of my life. I recently wrote about the French actor Gerard Depardieu urinating on an airplane, maybe he read the blog? If I do have a fan in France I should probably make this clear, I don't really like Jerry Lewis. I hope that will not come between us.
Singapore? This is pretty much another Malaysia to me. I think I once purchased a shirt made in Singapore? Or maybe it was Bangladesh?
Denmark? Older Daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Eric had a student living with them for a year. Karoline is from Norway. I'm pretty sure Denmark and Norway are close, geographically speaking. They do lots of skiing in both countries. I think Victor Borgia is Danish and so is some of my favorite pastry.
Latvia? This is pretty much another Singapore to me. I think Latvia is somewhere near Mt. Everest? if so, this could be where Sherpa's reside. I'm very sure that Latvian men have large ear flaps on their hats. Latvian women are usually robust and make a very tasty loaf of dark bread.
Russia? Since Irving always said he was born in Russia I assume I have relations living there. I am a big fan of Russian Dressing and I loved the movie, "The Hunt For Red October." I do blame Russian ideology for most of the neurosis of my youth. Now, I'm all better.
And, just when you thought it couldn't get any more ridiculous comes this info from England where ironically, I have no readers.
The British Department for Work and Pensions said it is setting up payment plans for 10 people who were overpaid a total of nearly $3 million in benefits.
The department said an estimated $5.4 billion is overpaid each year due to fraud and errors and the largest 10 debtors for the past year were overpaid a total of $2.8 million.
A department spokesman said payment plans are designed to "avoid undue hardship."
One of the debtors, who owes $394,800, is paying the department back at a rate of $16.29 per month, a speed that would take 142 years to completely repay the sum.
Another of those who owe the department is paying a $238,525 debt back at a rate of $32.90 per week while another is paying $57.58 per week to repay a $430,990 debt.
"This is just more evidence that the benefits system is in free fall," said Matthew Elliott of the TaxPayers' Alliance........DUH?
I can not help but wonder, how stupid can you get? First they took the money without question. Then they stuck around long enough to spend it and get caught? STUPID, stupid, stupid.
