This is the end.........

Do you remember Jim Morrison? Val Kilmer portrayed him in an Oliver Stone movie. Kilmer was pretty good. Meg Ryan was also in the movie. I couldn't get her as a "rocker gal." If any or all of this sounds familiar to you then you may also remember the song, "The End." This my friends is, the end.

As of July 11, 2011 we will no longer have Trash Day Thursday. With little notice, and no explanation, our pick up day will change. Now, trash day will be known as Whensday Trash Day? The day after Tuesday or, the day before Thursday.

I noticed many of my Face Book friends are changing their profile pictures in honor of Father's Day this Sunday. I just changed mine to one of Irving. Last night I was thinking about people raised with step-parents. This Sunday is Father's Day not Step-Father's Day.

Hallmark could sell more cards and Penney's more ties if someone would reinvent Fathers Day. The third Sunday in June would stay as is. August doesn't have much beside the Canadian Civic Holiday on the first. And, the entire country seems a little mixed on that celebration. Have the third Sunday in August named, Any and Everyone Step-Day.

Step Fathers and Step Mothers, Step Sisters and Step-Brothers, even Grandmothers and Fathers could have their day. Then, all of us biologically related people could have, and enjoy, the day set aside for us.

In our family we have two daughters. Younger Daughter Rebecca is my biological daughter. Older Daughter Jennifer is Wanda's biological daughter. Both the girls have now, or in the past had, step parents.

Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins all confuse the family tree. When these "holiday's" were introduced in the early 20th century no one planned for all these step-contingencies.

It's time to do it, now.
