I need to take a short run and bang my head against a wall. I have been hearing this for a week. Last Friday or Saturday we were working around the house and had T.C.M. on "Love Me Or Leave Me." The 1955 Doris Day as Ruth Etting with Cagney as a real louse movie. If someone wouldn't mind taking it for a while I would sure appreciate it.
It's funny how certain things will "stick" in my brain, for minutes, hours, or days. Remember "Ghost" with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze? How could you not hum or sing "I'm Henry the Eighth I Am" after watching that movie.
I admit the other day I was doing a bit of tongue in cheek complaining about The Wedding tomorrow. I just read an article about expenditures, expected to be less then Charles and Di's but still six figures. There certainly can be a large difference when reporting it like that. Will it cost ONE hundred thousand or NINE hundred thousand? The article also reports financial boosts to the local economy, restaurants, pubs, hotels etc. Also the expenditures of the parents of the bride and groom. The public will pick up a lot of the wedding tab. If this wedding will be an economic drain or windfall remains to be seen.
Money issues aside, a lot of people are really jazzed and looking forward to this event. By the many discussions on Face Book and the message boards I read, DVR'S will be running overtime tomorrow morning. Face book reports over 10,000 people have signed on as "guests" for the coverage of the wedding. I think that's more than were watching the live town hall meeting President Obama had a few days ago.
In the first thirty minutes or so of the just released Harry Potter 7 part 1, (Deathly Hallows) we see a wedding. Two characters are talking and one said with all the dark forces so prevalent it was terrible timing. The other responded that maybe with all the evil around something festive, something good, was just what they all needed. Maybe the same can be said for the Royal Wedding tomorrow?
