In about an hour and a half I'll tune in to the Detroit Tigers playoff game against the Texas Rangers. This is the American League Championship series and Texas has a 1-0 game lead. It's a best of seven series so I'm not real concerned, yet.
This evening, Monday Night Football features the Detroit Lions vs. the Chicago Bears. Naturally Wanda beat me to post on Face Book, today and tonight, Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My.
It's really worth a big OH MY. The Detroit football team, The Lions, last appeared on Monday Night Football in 2001. To put this in perspective, the Seattle Seahawks last MNF game was in 2007. The remaining thirty teams have all played ball on Monday night prime time over the last three seasons.
Since it's introduction in 1970 MNF has hosted the Lions twenty five times. That is not, surprisingly, the fewest appearances. There are some expansion teams that have less. The Dallas Cowboys, have been on seventy two times. Detroit is now building a better car. It's about time it started building better sports teams.
Yesterday was our twenty second wedding anniversary. October 9, 1989 we said we would do, and we did, and we have. It's never been dull and it's always been fun, and interesting. I'm sure no two other people, anywhere, could put up with either of us individually. So, it's a damn good thing we found each other.
I asked Wanda out several times before she said yes. She claims she finally consented to an afternoon movie just to get rid of me. I'm still here and we're still together. The movie, "The Princess Bride," is just as entertaining, just as fresh, and just as charming now, as it was twenty four years ago.............just like us.
