11-9-2010 The mystery food

I thought it was Wednesday?

Got here around 7:30 this morning just as the breakfast tray was at the door.
We got set up for a terrific breakfast consisting of, rice krispies, cheese omelet, sausage, orange juice and a mystery substance of some sort. I think it's hospital policy to send at least one strange item no matter what you order. He ate the cereal and a few bites of the eggs and sausage. Fred continues to be surprised at the small amount he can eat and be full. We had a talk about the future with no hot dogs and big steaks. I think he will take this opportunity and lose a little weight.

After breakfast I gave him a half assed bed bath and a shave. Not that there was anything wrong with the bed bath, I only washed half his ass. No, really, I just did the body top half and the legs. Those other areas, I saved for him. So, we got teeth brushed, body washed, face shaved, and linen changed. It's been a long time since I've done the bed change with a person in it but I remembered how. I had him do several things like rolling on his side four times. This was the most he has done so far and he did very well. All this activity tired him out and he is taking a rest.

When I got in this morning he said he slept great last night. This was the first time since admission he's been able to say that. He is doing really well in this room. I hope he continues to improve here, I'm sure he will.

I'm going to go grab something to eat. I hope you all have a good day, more to follow.
love, Chuck
