11-7-2010 I drop my pills in the toilet

Dear Family,
Not much different so far today.

Got here around 8:30. Did you all remember to turn back the clocks?

I had a decent night. I have mentioned the friends I am staying with are vampires? I got back to the house around 6, they were getting ready to go to Home Depot. They finally left at 7:30, got home around 9 and had dinner at 10. If I wasn't trying to stay on west coast time I really would be nuts.
My borrowed alarm clock started beeping at me just as six rolled around. I turned if off, got out of the borrowed bed. found my "guest towel" and tippy toed into one of the five bathrooms in the house. I can not tell you what a glorious start I had to the morning when the pill container I use fell into the toilet. I wish that had happened BEFORE I peed, it didn't. I retrieved the damn thing and to add insult to injury, had to take the two pills that were in it. Then I stubbed my toe, dropped a full plastic water bottle on my foot, and spilled hot coffee on my hand. No matter what was in store for me at the hospital was bound to be an improvement.

Do you think people in line at Starbucks could read the menu BEFORE hearing, "can I help you?"

Fred was pretty tired when I got here this morning. I set him up with his breakfast tray and he helped himself to some jello and cream of wheat.

Donna called just as his Internist came in, nice guy. He talked with Fred about working a little harder and getting his strength back. Dr. Sabin is one of several who have no doubt he will make a full recovery. I wish the timing had been better for Donna, as the doctor left Tammy called from Fred's condo. They had several things to talk about, she was able to get paperwork that they'll go over tomorrow. Just a few minutes later he had a visitor. A young lady who worked for him brought six incredible looking, better tasting cupcakes, from her mom's store here in Royal Oak. http://www.cupdotcake.com/
Now, two down four to go.

Then, lunch came. Lunch, real food. A whole tray loaded with good stuff. Swedish Meatballs/Noodles, a dinner roll and butter, sliced carrots, Iced Tea, and Angel Cake with Strawberry Sauce topping. I got Fred sitting up in bed, prepared his tray and told him to "go slow." Today makes a month since solid type food and this stuff was delicious. Understandably he didn't eat much but ejoyed what he did eat.

I put the Lions game on at 1:00, torture, or something to pass the time?

Now we are using torture. We just got him sitting up in the bedside chair. I slept in the thing the other night so him doing just two hours shouldn't be that difficult. I've got a regular and an electric razor so it's shave and a haircut, two bits time. Later I will let you know how it went. Yesterday I told him I was going to shave his head.

Have a wonderful Sunday, time, marches on.
love, Chuck
Marshall, how are you doing?

PS: I changed my ticket to a flight home on Tuesday the 16th. I spoke with half of India before I left Orbitz and went to Priceline. I was thinking I may get William Shattner there but no such luck.
