I can't wait to take these tennis shoes off.
Spent a decent night in the room. Well,he had a decent night. I will refrain from describing mine due to the impressionable young minds on this mailer. I'm not complaining mind you, I was able to bum a free toothbrush from the staff. That, two cups of hospital coffee and a large double latte got me going this morning. I did fall asleep around 3AM. His nurse was in and out several times doing various routine tasks. This morning she told me Fred kept asking her if I was asleep and how I was doing etc. The more he thought about me the less he stressed over his situation.
He did really well this morning. Allen called and they talked for a bit. He dictated a couple of short letters and I sent them out via my e mail. I set his breakfast tray up and he ate a little by himself. Once again, I ate the pudding. Just about 15 minutes ago the lunch tray got here and the nurses got him up in the bedside chair. Sitting up still tires him out but he needs to be up for at least two hours. I anticipate sticking around until he is back in bed.
The "tube count" is as follows: Tubes out today 2 Tubes in today 0. Total tube removal to date 4.
He should be in this room until Monday, will then move to a regular room on a post surgical floor.
If you call, remember I should get it within three rings. Also, I need to keep the cell phone off in here but will check for messages every couple of hours.
I'll probably write a short note when I get back over to Harriet's this evening.
love to you all, Chuck
PS: We all think he is doing much, much better.
