11-4-2010 Afternoon, the tube watch begins

It's 74 at home and will snow here tomorrow? I can't remember if I mentioned Aunt Lee called to find out if I had a warm coat. Fred had a leather jacket in the car. I guess he bought it around 1973, at least it's broken in.

The cardiologist was in this morning and cleared Fred. He was very satisfied and everything looked good. His surgeon also came in and talked to Fred about getting up more and exercising. Nothing major of course, maybe just standing and walking in place. As I mentioned this morning he has moved into a much smaller room, however, if they would stop making overhead announcements it could be very quiet. I asked his nurse if they could turn the volume down a little. All of this modern technology and the volume button would be duct taping a towel and/or pillow over the speaker on the ceiling. I guess that's why they have ear plugs here. If anyone would like to get the caretaker (me) a little gift, perhaps a Bose noise canceling pair (?) of headphones. If it is one headphone but with two ear coverings, like earmuffs, is it a pair? or is it a a one?

Darlene Fink just stopped in. Aunt Lee called a few minutes ago but he was really tired. If you want to call maybe the best time would be between 10 and noon.

They took out that big tube that was in his nose a couple of hours ago and guess what.....FOOD. He is just now drinking some 7-up. They brought chicken broth, cranberry juice, and the soda about 1PM. He was so tired from the exercise this morning we just now opened the can. He didn't care for the cranberry juice. I don't want to be here when and if he tries the broth.

Anyhow, that's about the exciting day. Brother Allen wrote yesterday and called it the "tube watch." so today: tubes out=1 tubes in=0.
love to you all, Chuck
