Good Morning,
After gettting 10-15 minutes away from Harriet and Pauls place this morning I realized I left my wallet on the bedside table.
I got here about 8AM. Fred was having some interesting "dreams" last night. Something about melting popcorn, pots and pans, laughing and gigeling children and a small white rabbit (ok, I made up the rabbit). The plans for today are:
Begin to tapper Fred down on the pain medication.
Move him to a step down room as soon as one is available
Access his swallow reflex, then if good, begin a clear liquid diet
Continue to do some work with P.T.
Get him sitting up in the bedside chair
Discontinue the naso-gastric tube (the miserable tube down his nose)
I would think soon after he starts eating the feeding tube (also down the nose) will be discontinued.
His oxygen tubes (also the nose) were taken off last night.
All of the goals above are subject to change at any time. I think he'll feel much better once the pain medication clears out some.
I'll let you all know when (if) he is moved. I'll also let everyone know how he did with all of this late this afternoon.
love, Chuck
PS: Someone wrote and asked Wanda how she was doing with me gone. She said she was a little bored but did have sole possession of the remote. I hope we don't need to buy a new TV when I get home.
